Anyone know if there is a sensor to adjust sensitivity for the factory alarm system for the G37? Few days ago my alarm rang for the first time due to maybe ground shaking from traffic. I thought the alarm rings only when door is opened or something major happened. Anyone else alarm rang before?
Unfortunately I don't have any helpful info but sometimes when I'm working under the car with the keys in my pocket and I guess my leg pushes the panic button and I damn near **** myself every time
Unless you have the OEM accessory "Vehicle Alarm Impact Sensor" (999M2 VU003) our cars alarm system is quite basic: If the door/hood/trunk opens it will sound off. There is no motion or impact sensor.
My guess is one of those door/hood/trunk switches is acting up.
If you have the impact sensor, is located on the lower right (passenger) side, above the BCM module.
Is a small black plastic box with a white trim button.
The trim is VERY sensitive so rotate it maximum 1-2 mm then test the results.
To test the impact sensor, lock the car, wait for 1 minute, then kick the front right wheel to start the alarm.
This doesn't have to do with the impact sensor, but when I bought my car the alarm started going off randomly. Sometimes early in the morning or late at night. Once I figured out it should only be going off if a door/the hood/the trunk are opened I figured something must not be sealed correctly. I went out and closed the hood nice and firmly and the problem went away. I know it sounds silly but it's always worth trying the simple solutions first.
I know this thread is old but i had to take mine out because it kept acting up and going off for no reason. Does anyone know if the new sensor they have for the Q50/60 will fit our G37's?
@SonicVQ Thanks for posting those instructions. My 2009 G37 has the impact sensor and it has been so sensitive that a garbage truck rumbling past would set it off. One time I made the mistake of cleaning my windshield while the car was locked and set off the dang alarm. It would go off all the time — especially annoying at 3:00 a.m.
I was able to pull all the plastic panels, find the sensor, and dial it all the way down.
Here's a photo: Here's the impact sensor. It's tucked up and hard to see.

Glad it helped! When the notification came in, I had no idea what the thread was about, I guess that happens after 5 years
