Muffler Delete Exhaust Tip Question.

OK, so let me start off this thread stating I know there are TONS of threads on muffler deletes on this site. I searched and read most of them in the past few days. And also I know many think the delete is a cheap, ricey mod. Well, I have done deletes on many of my past cars and I enjoyed the tone and the cost for it was well worth dumping a grand on an exhaust for no power. When I could use that towards plenty of other mods. Just had a 335i modded plenty before being totalled and had the muffler delete with nice tips and sounded great IMO.

Soooo with that being said, took my 08 G37s Coupe to muffler shop today, he puts it up, says he can unbolt the muffler, but if I was going with aftermarket tips the TOTAL length of the exhaust tip had to be 6" or less....? I was under there with him and saw his point as he would have to make alot of bends esp on the right side and didn't have room for a 7 or 8" inch in LENGTH exhaust tip to work.......I see many have gotten tips that were 7 or 8" long, confused somewhat how they made it work....I am considering ordering these
https://www.magnaflow.com/products?partNumber=35224

about $130 shipped, def want 4.5" outlet, inlet should be 2.5 I believe? And its 5.75" inch in length.....Any heads up from guys who've done the delete with aftermarket tips would be great, thanks!

IDK..this car with a muffler delete sounds like crap! Also IMO. But I am little confused by the tip size question...are you asking what an 8" around tip would look like? you said 8" long and that means something totally different to me.

Yeah I mean the length of the exhaust tip. seems at least when we looked at it there was **** in the way and a 8" exhaust tip would go too far back and hit a piece of the actual car.....

I highly suggest you save up and buy an actual exhaust system. You can find a used one going for a fair price in the classifieds section on this forum, they pop up every now and then.

Dang, lots of hate. The videos I heard of the delete didn't sound bad. Yes, I know, it'll sound different in person. But still, his car, his way.

Good luck with the tips.

Not trying to get into what I should do or what sounds good. Everyone has their own taste....so many people said the same crap on e90forums for my 335i but yet 100s of members have the delete on that car too. Same on this site...I'm looking for information not opinions on if or what I should do....I'd appreciate feedback from people who actually have this done and know the answer to my question. Thanks in advance.

Also the AAM only has two bends both sides why cant your welder replicate them if you must have them do it.

Why do you highly suggest him buy an actual exhaust system? It's like a popular trend on this site to be against muffler deletes on this car. It sounds good, no rasp ,and there is drone. There are companies such as AAM above that make just that,bolt-on muffler deletes.

My muffler delete sounded better than my Invidia Q300, and strikingly similar to a FI 2.25 w/ 18 resonator for a sedan.

To each his own... if that's what he wants then by all means do it and enjoy it. But in my personal opinion it doesn't sound good to me at all. Might as well just drill a hole instead and call it a day. I'm not telling him what to do I'm only giving an opinion and whether or not that opinion has become a 'trend' or not on this forum should also say something.

i ran a Porsche 928 with no mufflers, 3" pipe exiting out a 5" megaphone.

it sounded unbelieveable, and it was fun for about a week. after that, my head freakin' hurt. i had to crawl through the parking garage at work, or i lit up every car alarm in it.

luckily, it was easy to swap the megaphone for the optional Magnaflow muffler.

i won't be doing loud exhausts anymore.

Yeah I bought those magnaflow tips online for $130 than the midas muffler guy said hed charge me around $150 to unbold and take off the muffler and make pipes fit from there to the tips and weld it all together. So $280 roughly , rather save $700-$1000 for an exhaust that does nothing performance wise and it'll look just as good. I'll use that towards half of paying for new wheels or a new front bumper .
