Q60 Flexible Door Stop

Anyone seen one of these?

The 2017 Q60 Coupe propaganda claims it has a flexible door stop that "..holds the door open in almost any position."

One of my biggest complaints with my Coupe is the damn door stays. My wife has actually impaled herself on the door window because the door never seems to quite catch open.

I'd love to see if it could be retrofitted!

I doubt this would be a bolt on retrofit due to all the variables in the door swinging mechanism. Would be nice though...

Yeah when I read that I was screaming out loud and laughing hysterically. They obviously know it was a problem

Variables like... what???

Are the new Q60 doors a radical departure of some sort?

I was hoping someone had seen one in the flesh or could snap a picture. I was disappointed they do not have one on display at the Chicago Auto Show.

Variables like mounting points, swing radius, weight of the doors, and all those other little things that engineers get paid well to work on.

Here is a side by side of the G37 sedan and Q50 mechanisms, which is a fair comparison.

I've always hated the spacing of where the doors stop on our cars. To me it's either way too wide or way too narrow. I got into my buddy's new STI the other day and the door stopped anywhere you put it. That alone almost made me want to trade with him lol.

I totally agree with what youre saying.

Too narrow, and yeah the door doesnt touch the car next to me but I feel like I am eating the window trying to exit the car. That lil bit "extra" is too wide and its smashing the car next to me.

I wonder how many times engineer's ankles were crushed over the years of testing this car.

I've owned my car just over 24 hours and I can already admit, its a pain. I hit my head on the window as it was swinging back at me when getting out. ugh.. Oh well.

Yup, just stay in the car.

Nothing is less sexy than having the door crush you right in front of your date.
