Can I get some advice on this set up please :)?
Hey guys,
so I own a 2009 G37S. I was thinking of getting the following set up:
TEIN S Tech Springs
Rear SPC Camber Kit
STR 607 Wheels: 20x9 front, 20x10.5 rear
General G-Max AS-03 tires: 245/35/20 front, 275/30/20 rear
1) Will I experience rubbing with this set up?
2) Will I need a front camber kit?
3)Will I be bottoming out on speed bumps and scraping the bottom?
4)How are the General G-Max wheels? The price is really nice. I've read up on a lot of old forum posts about the tire being pretty good. Any recent updates?
5) Will the springs mess up my OEM shocks?
I'm a noob. Your advice is much appreciated
.
Cheers.

general gmax are on my stockers... she breaks loose even at just partial throttle on low gears and im on oe power.. no power adders..
also doesn't heat up as much as id like but then again.. these are all seasons..
haven't driven them in either rain or snow yet but dont plan to... figured for the price.. they are decent for daily use..
something i wouldn't consider even remotely bein any good at an autocross or that go straight sport they call drag..

I think your wheels and tires sizes are right on. You shouldn't experience any rubbing but tbh that's not my area of expertise. I have been running 20x10.5 +25 all round for 6 months now. I love that size. There are a few members who have the same size wheels and they run 275/30/20 will no rub.
As for the shocks getting messed up we will need to know how manny miles are on your car. Generally I've heard it's recommended to upgrade to coils or new shocks if you are at the 40K mileage level or more (experts correct me if I'm wrong).
Also as you a coupe, sedan, or convertible. The verts have larger fenders in the rear by 1"
I like the G max tires bc if you buy them from discount tires direct thru come with a 40K mileage warranty. I like the nitto motivo better tho. 60K warranty and some guys use them for autocross.

Tein S Techs are a deeper drop, IMO you'd be much better off w/ Tein Basis coilovers, you won't have to worry about losing life on your OEM dampers and you can get just the height you want. S Techs are a spring that will drop enough that you will have to be extra careful at times regarding scraping, rubbing, etc. The Tein coilovers are only about $300 more than just the springs but a much better setup. Also your wheel offsets are critical in determining how they fit. Post the offsets if you can as it's what makes or breaks the equation.
Here's some info on the coils and a good vendor

If I go with the Tein basis coils.. How much of a drop should I be going for? I started considering the Tein H-tech but now that you've pointed out these coils, you've sparked my interest.
How does the Tein Basis compare to BC coils?
I believe the offset is either +35 or +40

FWIW the G35 Sedan from 07-08 uses the same coils as the 09 thru current G37 Sedan and 08 thru current G37 coupe.
BCs would be better for slammed setups but have more noise related issues. The Tein coils use the OEM front top strut hats, most of the Korean based coilovers use pillow ball mounts which can be a source for noise issues.
Im running s techs and 225 35 20 20x9 20offset flush, fronts not to low to no rubbing issues there... But the rear, be careful I'm running a 255 35 20 20x10.5 25offset and its close to rub but i shaved off the corner bumper bolt so it clears... but its close so becareful man
I can't speak for the suspension components as I'm bone stock in that area. But I can speak to the General G Max AS03 tires: they are crap! They came with the car when I bought him and thankfully the time to replace is near.
-Grip is marginal at best. Even under moderate throttle the rears will slip and break loose. God help me when it's raining. The fronts are not as responsive to steering wheel input as I'd like.
-Road noise is absolutely HORRIBLE! I can't even begin to describe that evil drone. If you've ever heard a semi truck cruising down the interstate that's similar to these tires. Many thought it was a wheel bearing going bad but, nope, just tire noise. For a daily driver that noise will drive you nuts.
-Tread wear is good, I will give them that, but from a performance standpoint there are several options that are far above and beyond superior to this General junk. Overall I would say this is the worst tire I've ever had and can't wait until I can dump them next month.
Just my thoughts and opinion. I'm sure some will disagree but to each their own.
Good luck.
