Dash is cracking
Preventing cracks in the first place
My 2009 [86k] has been garaged from new, and, when parked in the sun, I always have used a sun shade. That said, while I've avoided extensive cracking or melting, I still got hairline cracks where the dash meets, say, the entertainment complex both laterally and along the sides. Taking it to a detailer who says they can can take care of this di minimus trouble.
I have a guy here locally that can repair vinyl and make it look like new. I found him through one of the dealers I work with as they use his service for all of their CPO work. I used him to repair the seats on my son's Ford Ranger and my old Honda Pilot. The dash seems like it would be an easier repair compared to the seats? You should call one of the dealers you work with and ask who they use.
I recommend the Coverlay cover as a cost-effective solution
Purchased a Coverlay dashboard cover for my 2009 Infiniti G37 Sedan. Customer service through the entire experience was excellent. As well, the color I ordered (Grey Taupe) was close to a perfect match; can't tell the difference from the rest of the trim. My only regret--and its a slight one--is requesting the airbag cutout which I understand is optional. Looks fine, but I DO miss the continuous look of the dash on the passenger side; for what its worth, my wife said that if you didn't know the cutout wasn't part of the original look, you wouldn't give it a thought so it may just be me. Note I did have professional installation from a local vendor recommended by Coverlay. They did an excellent job of installation. At the end of the day, unless one looked for it, its really not readily apparent there even is a dash cover. Bottom line is that I highly recommend the Coverlay product as a cost-effective solution to the G37 cracking dash issue. Just make sure you read the installation instructions and follow them, or go the couple of bucks and get professional installation.
