It will work. I have the same year G as you, bought the same door opener, and had the same problem. The repeater installs in no time flat, and the included "remote" allows you to program your homelink in about 5 minutes to restore functionality to the mirror button.

Glad to hear it. Would be a little pissed off if it didn't.

Does it need to be mounted anywhere specific, or can I hide the bridge elsewhere?

If I remember correctly, it needs to be somewhere near your garage openers. I have mine plugged into the same outlet as the door opener. No issues with range or whatever.

I just ran into this with both the 2011 G37 and the 2011 X5. I have Chamberlain openers that were installed almost two years ago with the yellow wire.

After reading a number of threads about this in various Nissan/Infiniti and BMW forums, I determined that I needed the repeater as well. As indicated by others, in some cases Chamberlain will supply the repeater for "free". I called, got through quickly at about 7PM, asked if I qualified for the "free" repeater and did... no bitching required. They charged $7 for S/H but I was OK with that. I think it showed up exactly one week later.

It was easy to program. Only took a few minutes. Even if you have multiple garage doors and multiple cars that require the repeater, you only need *one* repeater for all of them to work. Since I have retractable work lights plugged into the other plug on the same outlet as the openers, I plugged the repeater into a power strip I have mounted on the pole in the middle of the garage. It works perfectly for both cars and doors. I think it has to be close but not right-next-to-the-opener close. This puts it almost equidistant between both openers.

I called LiftMaster and told them the issue after they asked me a bunch of questions for my information. They told me they have to transfer me to some other department. They transferred me to some kind of automated thing that had really long messages to try to instruct me on how to connect the car to the garage door opener. Finally I was able to press a key that it gave me for "buying" a repeater.. The next person asked me the same questions all over again. I explained what was going on and they told me that they don't give out free ones and you have to buy them from LiftMaster.com or homelinkestore.com
