what other cars did you guys look at before getting your G?
Lexus' are Toyotas with a "L" logo slapped on it and a bit of interior leather. Toyota's R&D department seems to have just unified, Lexus has gotten lazy. Don't even consider it.
To answer your question though, before I was looking at my G37.... I was looking at G35's
True story, I didn't know anything about them I went to ask the difference between the 35 and 37 thinking they were just different models being produced yearly lol. Either way fell in love with 37

A Lexus is still a Toyota;
Much as I love my Infiniti, it is still a Nissan;
Much as I did not like my Acura, it was still a Honda.
You can add all the glitz and glamour you want, but a wolf in sheep's clothing is still a wolf.
Makes no difference otherwise.

Do you know cars or are you just trolling? Outside of the ES the IS, GS and LS are all rwd and have nothing to do with fwd Toyota. If you ever sat in the newer generation of Lexus products you'll be impressed because the material quality is superior to that of a comparable Infiniti product. Also most car mags seem to think that the new IS and GS are great handling product better infact than the infiniti counterpart.
I was in between the G37 and Mustang 5.0. The AWD was what sold me on the G. At the time, I didn't have a second vehicle, so for the few times we get snow/ ice here I'd be stuck at home. Plus coming off probation with the DMV, I didn't trust myself with a 5.0
My heart was set on a 2008-2010 M3 Cab e93 6spd. However, my wallet and future felt the added cost and high maintenance, 13/20mpg would probably offset buying another house for 6 months over the G37s which was half the cost, less miles and more reliable. I think this car is the perfect daily driver(hopefully with snow tires in the winter). I cannot wait for it to warm up to mid 30's to register and start driving this thing.

I looked at the 370z, Lexus IS350, Acura TL and a few others in the same range. What ultimately made me go for the G was that it wasn't as blandly styled as the TL or IS (previous gen) and was practical enough compared to the 370z (2 seater with no storage).
To be honest, I had always wanted a G ever since the G37 came out. Was looking for a new ride after my Taurus got totalled. Was looking for an older fusion or something in the $6k to $7k range. Saw this G on the lot but knew I had no business even looking at it. Test drove 5 or 6 cars and we were looking around at what else the dealer had. My wife asked if I saw the G. Told her I saw it when we drove up (they rarely escape my notice). She had him get the keys and I was soiling my undies when I sat inside and turned it on. I took it for a test drive and just braced myself knowing it was too much money. Worked the numbers and it wasn't there. So we went home empty handed. The next day I got a call saying they were able to work out something out. So we traveled the hour back and they got the numbers where we wanted. So...was not looking for the G or anything close, but ultimately got the car I've wanted for quite some time. Sorry so long...but that was my experience.

nice upgrade over the 6k Fusion I must say
My criteria was an AWD upscale sports coupe with at least 300HP, which left me the choices of Caddy CTS, Audi S5, and the G37xS. I loved Godzilla, but it was out of my price range. A used GTR would have some pricey maintenance items to contend with.
The CTS had the most interior room and trunk space, and I thought it had the best looking interior. Plus, you could get full instrumentation from the gauges and display. It was the slowest of the bunch, but it ran on regular gas. I went back and forth on the exterior look. The deal breaker was I did not like the base seats, and the Recaro sport seats were only an option on the V, which was not AWD. The Recaro’s were an option on the non-V sedan. Go figure. Also, the sun roof was only a pop up. Being the first year of this design, it did not have any run time.
I thought the S5 had the best exterior look, and the interior was quite nice also. Quickest of the bunch and the worst gas mileage, although my G has not been anywhere close to as advertised. The S5 holds their value better. The Audi salesperson did not trash the other cars as the others did. He said the other cars were nice, but here is why the S5 is better, which I appreciated. I did not go for the S5 because it was a minimum of 8 weeks before they could get one in stock that had my wants, and they would not drop from sticker that much.
Now on to the G. I wanted (and got) a loaded black xS, dark interior, and wood trim. The dealer did not have any in stock, and it would take quite a while to get one from Japan. Plus, he was not going to drop from the sticker that much. He said he did a dealer search and there were not any in the country. Bummer. I did my own search and found two out of town dealers, within a day’s drive, that had what I wanted. Plus, since was the end of the year, both dealers dropped the price about 9K under the sticker, which came out almost 25K below the S5. I went back to my local dealer and said either you get either one of those cars for their stated price or I deal with them directly. They did, and I just paid for the transport cost, which saved me a long road trip driving in the snow.

I considered getting the 3 series 335 and the S5. I couldn't really justify the 3 series cost difference and the S5 was way to much money - this was back in late 07.
I was looking at a 370z Nismo (white or Black) and a MK IV Supra (Black) and a G37s Coupe (Gray or Black) ... Even though the Supra is one of my Dream cars... I was getting a daily driver, and I knew what I would do with the Supra, and it wasn't the responsible choice... With the Z vs G, I ended up with the G because I decided I wanted something a little more mature and classy.
