About to begin Modding

Hey folks:

New G37x owner here. I'm new to the G family, but had a 300zxTT in high school and am pretty familiar with Nissan performance cars. Anyways, it seems I've caught the modding bug again.

Question: I live in Philadelphia (inner city) and wonder whether any of you know a good G mechanic in the area? I know for a Z there is United Auto Sales in New Castle, DE. Any great G people around?

Thanks!

Starting out on the suspension side of the equation. Hotchkis Sway bars, coil overs, strut brace, breaks, etc. Also going to lower it a tad. This I consider the best value-added when it comes to the Gs.

After that I will move to getting some more O2 into this bad boy

Thanks. Question: what is the consensus on the best sized tires for the G37X Coupe? I don't like the standard 225/50/18. I was thinking about going a little wider on the back and maybe retaining the same size for the front. I am not buying new wheels - keeping the standard 18". I also do not want to change the tire's diameter.

Thanks in advance!

I'd go all 245/45/18 on front & rear since the wheels are all the same diameter.
You can run the 225s in front and 245 in back since the diameter variance is only 0.66% but when the fronts are worn I'd go 245s all around.

So straight up suspension first huh? That's cool. I don't have an opinion on that (yet) since I chose to do all NA power mods first. I guess I've been unintentionally saving the suspension for last. I will say I saw another convertible with Vossen's that was sitting low today....OMG so freakin sweet. Next up for me Is some sway bars and a diffuser.

Yes. My rationale is that (1) I have a 7AT with around 275rwhp (2) this transmission is not very intelligent, as it sometimes downshifts randomly and fails to downshift when I want it to (3) if this were to occur mid-bend/body roll it can be disaster; and (4) the sway bars can remedy a lot of the body roll on my non-s G37x.

I do plan on purchasing some Fast Intentions high-flow cats and maybe an exhaust, but for the most part I've decided to stick to suspension. Hopefully by then I will decide whether I want forced induction.

Agreed. Some H sways are pretty close to next on my list...just depends on if I find a god deal in the PC's before I buy the sways. I LOVE my Fast Intentions long tube Headers. I'm very much looking forward to the day when the FI CBE for convertibles fills up (we got 3 so far and need at least 7) so I can get the full Fast Intentions setup under my ride.

Suspension is going to have to wait (except for the sways) until last. This is my first sports car mod so I'm still learning everything as I go. Who knows on my next ride I may go all suspension straight outta the gate. Good luck with your mods bro.
