'12 G37 IPL Shift ****

Hello Everyone,

I have owned my 2012 IPL MT for 2 years now and I'm tired of the leather shift ****. I'm looking for something thats weighted and a little lower than stock. I have done some research on this forum (google didn't help at all) and I can only find the ***** for automatics (which don't look like they have a thread count). WC Lathe Works didn't provide an Infiniti section.

If someone could please point me in the right direction, or at least give me the thread specs (if there are any!), it would be much appreciated.

Thanks Again,
Tim

Check out the shift ***** from Moddiction. I got the stainless steel one for <$60 and it's over 1lbs (450 grams). The Titanium looks good, but it does not match our interior and it is half the weight.

Moddiction Anvil shift **** 10x1.25

For the install I used a zip in the inside of the shift boot to keep it from sliding down.

You're welcome. Shifting feels much better with it. I love it.

Hey,

How did you remove your stock ****? I can find videos of other g MT's but not one specific to our car. Any tips would be helpful.

Thanks,
Tim

Haha, hey there, Lego.

AFAIK, LatheWerks is just one very talented guy taking orders as he gets them. I suspect he keeps a thin inventory. Contact him and start a dialog on what it is you want.

Here's mine, a solid Titanium "tear-drop" ****. Beautiful, but damn cold in the winter. (Wear gloves.)

Here's a tip, Tim: Be prepared to trash the OEM ****. Use big, meaty vise grips. Ask a friend for help.

If you really, really need that OEM **** back again, order it new. It will probably look better new, anyway.

I used an oil filter strap wrench (like the one in the picture) and it worked really well. The **** was on extremely tight, but I removed it with no damage whatsoever.

Yep. Some people get lucky, and once the loctite seal breaks, it just unscrews. However, I'm pretty sure most people end up wrecking their shift ****. For me, a variety of strap wrenches all failed, and I had to give it up for the vise-grips. And even then it was a struggle every quarter-turn of the wrench until the very end. It wasn't easy at all.

Worth it! Absolutely. Just not easy to do, even with another pair of hands and two wrenches.

The point of my tip was this: expect to ruin the ****, and be pleasantly surprised if you don't. That's a much better approach than expecting to keep the **** and being disappointed when you destroy it.
