No power steering?

Hello, question for all for you G experts out there.

My car does not have any power steering unless i press down on the gas pedal. Just hit 60k miles if that helps for anything.

Anyone know what the problem is? I'm thinking serpentine belt is loose or i'm going to need a new ps pump, but i'm not completely sure

Sounds like you've already diagnosed what you should be looking at. Is the fluid full? Is the pump good?

Serpentine belt would be obvious, since it drives other components suck as the AC, and alternator.

If you have never flushed the PS system, then most likely the flow control valve would be the first place to look.

The valve is inline in the pump body where the pressure hose exits.
Maybe a broken spring, or clogged port.
Second would be the vanes are sticking only allowing pressure to build at higher RPMS, they are centrifugal in the pump body.

Drain the fluid, clean the flow control valve, and install new fluid would be the cheapest place to start.

The other place, would be the rack and pinion spool valve o-rings worn.
