If the G37S coupe is a 6 when it comes to sound with stock muffler, the Sport brings it up to a 10. Its MUCH, much louder. Period.

You can get it lower than $800. I bought it for $800 shipped about 3 years ago and still think its the best mod for the G.
I thought the IPL has the sport muffler. Regardless.. the service guy is big into cars and said the sport muffler was a waste of $$, and that you can get a good axle back that sounds better for cheaper and is lighter, less weight on the car by 20 lbs+. All opinions. $800 is a lot of $$ for just a muffler and tips.

Wow danmangto, you put way too much trust into your salesman. Did you not read what these guys here have to say?

The salesman was right, he said the Sport muffler was a complete rip off and waste of $$, I agree, you may not. If you think spending around $1k for a sport muffler install, $800+ for the muffler plus labor, for just a single sideways polished stainless finish muffler is good value, then I got a bridge to sell you, LOL! I think that is crazy. I don't want to hear the, if you can spend $40k+ on a car you can spend $1k+ on an exhaust silly argument. I look for value/quality in the $$.

BTW..I had a custom stainless axle back done for $300 by a very good local shop in Northern NJ, they re-used my stock tips. Very good quality work, looks and sounds nice.
Far nicer quality than those crappy-cheap $250 eBay axle backs.. same or better quality than the $500+ ones...

It can be had for 535+shipping..which for an axleback really isn't all that much. Which axle back can be had for less? If you look at the tanabe axle back it's around 700$.

Post some pictures of your custom axle back. Cause it sounds like you pretty much just did a resonator delete.

I got mine for $550, and it is a different muffler than the IPL it is similar build to the fuji axleback.

easy as hell to install I would never pay anyone to do it.

It sounds louder and has a slight gurgle and perfect fitment. Worth it IMO.

If you can't find the deal to get the muffler for $550 and then turn the 4 bolts it takes to install it then you deserve to pay a ridiculous price. Since my muffler wasn't hacked to bits in a Franken install, I was able to sell it and recoup $200, to bring my total spend to about $250 since I picked mine up for about $450 (lightly used).

I'd love to believe your salesman who is "big into cars", but like you, I'm pretty sure he has never actually heard the muffler in person. Why would they want to sell you an OEM axle back with low margins if they are a Stillen dealer and they can sell you a full cat back with a higher profit margin and labor time? Your estimate above says that they are charging you $200+ in labor for an axle back install that entails loosening and tightening 4 bolts so i can only imagine how much they would charge you to put in pipes from the cats back.

I'd love to hear more about your thoughts on the exhaust you have never actually heard in person...

I have the same muffler on my G35 and love it. I just purchased a 2010 Anniversary G37 coupe.

Plan on switching the rear exhaust sections since I don't have cams and LTH on my G35 anymore. I'll post a before and after vid since the car is completely stock for now.

Already have G3's and Z1 manifold ready to install just need to find some HFC or ARTs.

Please post reputable links to where this muffler is $550 new with warranty? Even at that price it's highly over-priced... It's not happening, sorry. The going rate I was quoted by 4 diff. dealers in my area for that Infiniti sport muffler is $800+ and nearly $200 labor, perhaps your area is cheaper? A quality shop (which are hard and more rare to find) can do an axle back for $300 or less.

PS.. heard the exhaust, it was on a car at the dealer.. sorry, not impressed... Axle back sounds better. My opinion.

It isnt. IPL has the same muffler as the OEM just with slightly different media inside to alter sound and same size tips as the SPORT acessory, but they are welded on with holes inside. SPORT has no holes and a true stainless finish on the entire muffler.

The problem with your service guy is he is altering the sound of the G by going with a full aftermarket system. You get more drone with aftermarket systems, and vibrations. SPORT muffler amplifies the OEM sound and makes it sound meaner, plus looks amazing.

Its not for everyone, but I wouldnt put anything else on my car.

According to everyone here it Must have been the IPL muffler. Either way I like the G37 coupe exhaust sound. Seems very pricey for slightly better sound.

Still alot of $$ for just a shiny muffler and exhaust tips with slightly louder sound My opinion.

Sorry but Videos of exhaust systems sound nothing like the real thing with your own ears. Esp since most are shot with non pro equip and most people play it back on non pro audio equip.

My car was featured on their private Face Book website along with other cars they do custom exhaust work on.

My car had rusted flanges. So you just couldnt wrench it off yourself with out breaking/damaging it. I got a muffler delete using high quality stainless axle back with stock tips cut off and re used re welded, new flanges, in case i change it out for $300 by a custom shop. He has had customers bring him those cheap $250 to $300 axle backs from ebay and he said they were near garbage quality he wont put them on. Fitment issues. Tips etc discolor shortly after.

My Car still looks stock factory appearance wise. Guy is well known for quality and durability. He did my GTO years back. Some hate the muff delete some like it. I like it. You may not. Lol. My friends that are into cars all say it sounds great. Doesnt sound as good as my modded 6.0L LS2 V8. But still decent. My opinion. Your mileage may vary.
