I usually hit it a few times a week. i grew up driving Rotary engines so it just makes you go thru the gears. When you really get on it in DS mode it really goes thru the range fast. Some times so fast you get it in your current gear and the next as well.

I also use 102 Octane boost at least 1 time a month. usually on the weekend and end up <10 mpg. The driving style overshadows any mpg benefits and i rely on the performance benefits i think im getting.

I pull 7500rpm in my IPL every now and then. My car makes more power at 7400rpm cutoff.

But I have never had an issue with driving the motor hard.

Not really worried about it as much with the G, but like the post below, I hit redline just about every day is manual mode with the 7 at. If I'm feeling real frisky I'll hit redline a few shifts in a row.

You all need to get out of here with that 5k crap. Drive your cars!
True story. My best friend is an Audi tech and attests tot he same thing. The theory behind it is if you baby it everywhere the carbon deposits just sit there and clump up over time. If you push it the engine can blow the carbon away. I am a believer so when I'm late to the train in the morning, I go through a couple gears

Wait,

I've always thought that there was some kind of limiter on the car that keeps it from redlining

No?

Good to do once a week or so. But dont make it an excuse to roar through all gears.

What needs to actually be done is a low rmp full throttle to red line run through just one gear. Pick a larger gear such as 4th is usually the best. Has to be done under load (so no revving in neutral.

If done correctly, will be good for the car.

It's actually a vhr motor, it thrives at redline.
Even the factory tune, car comes alive in the higher rpms.
