2010 Infiniti G37x Coupe Questions

Hello guys. I am a 16 year old from Pennsylvania. I am getting a 2010 Infiniti G37x (12k miles) as my first car. I was just wondering if any of you have any tips such as cool features, helpful hints, or anything like that. Anything that you would have liked to know about the car when you first had it. It'd also be cool if you guys could give me some pros/cons to this beast and things along those lines. Really excited for this.

Thanks in advance!
Cole

Cole, I'll be the first to say this should not be your first car. I was 16 once and have two children that were 16 once, a 16 year old should not have this car.

Now that I got that out of the way I'm going to tell you something most won't, call me an old fart if you want but with age comes knowledge and experience.

Save your money, the G is a bad a$$ cool car from the start. Start putting your spare money in IRA's, investments, etc because by the time you are my age you will have NOTHING unless you have provided it yourself. There will be no Social Security and Pensions. Now if you are a trust fund kid or mommy and daddy provide everything ... don't buy the G, get a GTR and have a blast!

I know that's not what you wanted to hear and it's not ment to be insulting.

Oh, and if you get the G (or GTR :-) )make sure to sign up for a premium Obama Care plan because there is a good chance you might need it.

No offense taken whatsoever and thanks for the response.
1.) I'm not paying, as I am a "mommy and daddy" kid.
2.) I have absolutely NO desire to speed and I am an A student with a 3.9 GPA.
3.) GTR is a bit out of my price range and it's really not luxurious enough, though it is badass.
Also, I'm aware of the fact that there will be no SS and that completely blows.
Are you saying I'm going to get hurt/die? If I do, what happens happens. Can't really do anything about it but I'm not a dangerous kid at all and quite frankly, I hate the kids that are.

Aside from all that, any advice for me considering I'm getting it anyways? Haha.

P.S. I love Family Guy .

Thanks!
Cole

I'm a G owner and I added tint, LED interior lights and a spoiler. Cosmetic stuff only. For me this is by far the fastest car I ever have owned, it's not the fastest out but a lot faster than many. So for me I never felt the need to spend a lot of money on performance and handling parts because for my needs it's more than fine.

You WILL have a desire to speed, be smart about it (let's not pretend it won't happen). Keep up the grades and get into a good school. Be advised the G is not very easy on the gas bill, premium and anywhere from 14-19 around town. You can milk decent trip mileage depending on driving habits. Glad you are getting a X model and not straight RWD. You might consider winter (aka snow) tires, we have them and I'm in MD so in PA you get your fair share of snow.

So my final advise (you asked), Stay away from the big bucks performance upgrades, the G is a touring luxery performance car, not a track car. If you want tints, I say keep it legal and save yourself the headaches. I like LED interior lights (not an expensive upgrade) and I really felt the G needs a spoiler. OEM is OK style (not as nice as the G35). Tons of posts on OEM vs. 3rd party.

Keep it clean, don't go rice and take care of it .... remember at your age you will attract attention, good luck!

I didn't have any desire to put anything non-cosmetic (bigger exhaust, etc) on it. However, I was looking at LED lights and they're really awesome. Are they legal? I think i recall reading about how they're illegal or something, I'm not certain. Again, I'm not paying for gas so that's that. We do get a lot of snow here in PA haha, I have like 10 snow days already :/. Tint wise I will get a legal amount but barely lol.
On the speeding note, I really would not like to see what would happen to me if I got a speeding ticket concerning my dad. I really do try and stay under but you can't help it sometimes, you are 100% correct.

Thanks so much for the reply!

Well I meant LED interior lights, not headlights ... too much $$ to retrofit headlights. I think only having bright license plate lights will get you into trouble. V-LED (my choice) and Diode Dynamics are the preferred vendors. Check out the light portion of the forums for tons of posts.

Quick light lesson, light is measured in temperature (think color not heat) by a Kelvin rating. Sunlight is 6500k (K for kelvin), in the LED bulb world, 5000k is nice and white, 6000k will have a touch/hint of blue. The stock HID headlights are 4300k.

I have an X it drives like a RWD 90% of the time. Except on Launch no wheel spin off the line. Rhe car Pushes in the corners so spend some money on upgrades Sway bars and a FTSB...do a search on here and read for about a month all you can regarding your car. Lowing spring are inexpensive to fille the wheel well gap.
If you bought the Nav package. Ignore the nav and enjoy the Bose though you will need to add a subwoofer. Oh and fill a 32 or 64 GB thumb drive with your music and leverage the usb drive for some onboard music
Snow tires in the winter and leave everyone behind when it snows!
Seriously enjoy it but treat it well and it will last you through College

Just be careful, take your time getting used to the car, keep your traction control on, basically just start out w/ baby steps. It's not like you're unleashing a nitro boosted missile but that is a lot of car for the first time out. And like mentioned, this car should last you many years if treated properly. I'd rather not state what my first car was but it involved fake wood grain on the body

Best Thing to do for now, LED upgrade. It makes a whirl of difference when you swap out the old bulbs inside / outside the car. There is a vendor on here with excellent prices for these LED's called DIODE DYNAMICS. I would start there with looking around.
