Welcome to the forum. Do you have any info on this "Z1 Plenum power mod" that you have? I'm not familiar with it for our engines.

Well I was originally getting a motordyne intake for the car, but when I went up to buy most of the parts from Z1, Jon Parham talked me into doing the z1 mod vs the motordyne intake.

I don't know 100% specifics and I've asked for them to give me some details on the mod. But from my understanding is they go in and open it up some more so that it increases airflow. I don't think its the same thing as using a plenum spacer as they actually had to work on the intake. But the yield is a slightly better gain throughout the power band than the Motordyne intake at half of the cost.

* I just asked them to give me some details to share with you guys, I'll update with specifics once they send them to me, as its not listed on their site.

Z1 says its a secret but it improves power Sorry I tried lol They did say, tested against the motordyne intake their mod makes 9whp up top over the motordynes intake.

No, they removed mine, modified it and re-installed once completed, it looks 100% stock. I do know it works though based on the 370z that was there on Wednesday has essientially the same exact bolt ons I had (he had HFC vs test pipes) and didn't have the Z1 mod and made 328whp. Based on the fact they have a lighter driveshaft I should of came in below his numbers, but instead got over him by 2 ponies. Now I know there are several factors there that come into play so thats not a 100% accurate statement...

I was kidding, buddy. Painting stuff red is supposed to increase horsepower.

Oh I know, my mx-3 used to have red racing mirrors that gave it an additional 500fwhp lol

red racing mirrors = replacements from getting into an accident then never painting them lol

Thanks for sharing your ride. I bet it sounds like a beast. Do you have a video of it on the dyno?

Yep Jon Parham took it while tuning, just waiting for them to upload the video to youtube.

The test pipes gives it a bit of a rasp sound, but its loud as hell lol. I'll post as soon as they let me know its uploaded, I sadly couldn't be there for the tune.

Yep, I hate coming on forums with completely stock cars, and you ask the usual stupid question that can be researched easily through search. I've been a moderator on mx-3.com for 11 years so I know how the trends go and how to avert being flamed lol...

That being said everyone will flame me for this, in the spring, I will be ripping the engine apart with the help of Z1 Motorsports (engine build and tuning) and Manley Performance (custom pistons, valves, head work) will be bringing her up the 12.5:1 compression on either E85 or 93 (still debating on which setup will be best, e85 is tempting but sketchy due to poor regulations). YES I KNOW, I'd get more power with FI for the same amount I'm going to spend on this setup. Trust me I'm crazy and have done this to every v6 I've had in the past 10 years. I just love NA made power. The goal is 100whp per liter, but if we make more, oh well. Z1 is pretty excited about this project as its not the normal path.

Stay tuned I'll have more the share
