2 X or not 2 X 4wd?

I live in the SE USA were we get more rain then snow and I don't plan on driving up north anytime soon.

Is it worth the extra loot to get the 4 wheel drive?

Looking at a '11- '12 auto

Thnx

IMO, no. You don't need an X

Its not gonna be "worth it" unless you live in a place where it snows all the time....

Rain dont really make a difference for RWD or AWD

The main point is the AWD ONLY comes in automatic. Witch is a shame...

Isn't the X faster since it can put all the power on the road with no slipping? I'm in a no snow area as well but wanted the X (despite the weight increase) for the performance bump.

maybe by a very very small margin on quarter miles.... but tbh you wont really feel any difference like that and i dont see a point in running stock quarter miles...

IMHO, the AWD is intended for all around handling in all kinds of weather and paved surfaces, not just for snow.

I have an 09 X coupe and live in the south east. We've had a lot of rain lately and I know my G handles much better going around turns on slippery surfaces than a RWD will as well as previous FWD's I've driven. The AWD is an added bonus to me during the very little snow we get around here.

David,
Is there much extra cost in owning an X? (Repair, maintenance, etc)

My first infiniti was a G37S back in 2008. It was great, stick etc

Now i own a 2012 g37 xS

I can tell you 2 things.

1. Its not nearly as fun to drive the xS. No drifting, no e-break to play with etc.

2. I do not feel any better "handling" from driving it on the road.

Sure you get more handling when you press the GAS after taking a turn... But hey you are NOT in a race track. What is the point? You gonna shave 4 seconds on the drive home from work? lol....

also the AWD was intended for SNOW. It sure will handle better on the track if its raining etc. But it was INTENDED for snow. Hence why we get a snow.

I also do not have any extra cost for maintenance at all. Actually, i have LESS because in the RWD i had to change my tires much faster due to having way more fun drifting left and right.

If your getting an automatic then you might as well get an x. It's rear drive most of the time anyway. If you want manual, then that's another story.

Living in the Northeast i bought the x coupe for the awd capabilities and it is great for the winter. Coming off a 2006 g35 6spd and having struggled during the northeastern winter weather, the X is terrific! However, it is not as much fun to drive as my '06 rwd was...

Not that I am aware of.

Maybe slightly less MPG than a RWD.
