Exhaust Questions

Looking to upgrade the exhaust. More interested in improving sound and tone than performance. More specifically, I have noticed the stock exhaust seems to be tuned to sound good around town but less so when you really get on it. I prefer the exact opposite. My last car was an e46 M3 which sounded like crap around town but was a dream when you were really driving it.

Looking for something with quality high end sound, no highway drone, and am not particular about looks as I will likely powder coat black.

I realize that there are tons of exhaust threads to search, which I have done. I am looking for feedback from those who have the aftermarket units who feel their set up fits what I am looking for.

TIA

I have had experiance with both Tanabe and Invidia. Both are great systems. Fitment is perfect and sounds is top notch with no drone. For some extra grunt too add test pipes. I run berk test pipes and even with those I have no drone at all. Just pure VQ37 sound

I just installed the Tanabe axel back system and I think that it sounds great both ways.

If you are simply looking for sound and not performance, I would recommend going with Tanabe Axle back. It is bit pricey but I m really happy with the purchase. Sounds really sexy and exotic ....
