I know this isnt a nice thing to say, but just was thinking. The cars dont change styles for a few years, & only thing that changes is the rims. From 2011-2013, the ipl's, had no changes. Has anyone ever thought that they just swap the vin #'s? I just met a man today with a 2011 ipl, & everything mirrors my 2013. Nflder from canada just got a brand new 2011 for 40g's. anyone thinks like me? jsut wondering. Dont get me wrong, love my car, but just a thought
The IPL gets a whole bunch of upgrades from the non IPL verisons including a more agressive exhaust with bigger tips, $1600 aero front bumper, aero sides, aero rear, ipl engine cover, red seats(if you chose to get them), a decent HP improvement, I believe it is also slightly lower than the S, that's all I can list off the top of my head...There have been far more changes than just rims, the changes weren't just visual. For example, heated seat buttons were restyled in 09, self healing paint came back, 7AT transmission was introduced, new sport bumper in '11, tech/sport packages went through some changes. Navigation screen was improved significantly in '10. These are just a small few, I'm sure there's lots more including a transmission reprogram, backup camera becoming standard, etcccccccc
Not all changes are visual body changes. Having an 08, I'm kinda glad infiniti doesn't change the exterior as much. I'd hate to feel like I'm driving an outdated or "older" car just 2-3 years after getting it like some bmw owners may feel.

What you're talking about would be referring to G37 vs Q60. The OP was talking about incremental changes in the same general body style period. Using the OP's logic, he's comparing an e90 to a newer revision e90, not an e90 to an f30. Example; 2006 e90 vs 2009 e90. There's a pretty significant change.
The changes the OP was talking about within the same "class/era" are more dramatic on cars such as BMWs is all I'm saying. In just 3 years, a BMW goes through far more changes than the G.
My mom has a 2006 e90 sedan. 3 years later there was a pretty big change on the front fascia in the new "improved" 328i and 335i sedans. In 2006 there was a 330i with ~255HP. I forgot if the 335i was introduced in 07 or 08 but it replaced the 2006 330i with a turbocharged 335i. the 325i was also killed and replaced with a 328i.
Actually IPLs had slight change from 2011-2013. IPL labeled floor mats for 2012 and now IPL labeled seats for 2013. Not much obviously. Most cars don't change much within a generation, but several refresh after 3 years or so. While its nice to have an early year model that doesn't look outdated in 3-4 years, technology changes rapidly and there is some need to refresh mid life cycle to keep a car "new" and keep sales up.
