Rear Spoiler replacement

Hi,
I have a 2008 G37 S and over time, the rear spoiler has seperated from the trunk lid and due to the bow in the center, has ultimately cracked in the center.

I have a rearview camera and am trying to see what's my best option to replace as a body shop has quoted me a price to replace OEM for $600.

I see online prices that range for about $200 for the part, whereas the part the body shop lists at near $500.

So curious if the part for $200 which specifies cutout for camera is worth buying and paying the guy to install it or if i should just pay the $600 or if it's not a difficult job to replace yourself.

Appreciate anyone's feedback on my situation.

For the spoiler, you can find OE Styled ones which are close but not exact. the fit and finish lack IMO. You can find OEM ones which is what I reccomend for about $500. I'd install it myself since you already have all the holes drilled from the last one. Just remove the old one, remove all the double sided tape from the trunk, removing the protective tape from the new spoilers, slide it on, plug it into the harness and fasten down the few nuts. Done.

Just bought one yesterday from the dealer (painted) for 545 +tax. They said it would be another 175 to be installed by them. I will be installing it myself.

For that price you are looking at OEM "like" not true OEM. I have installed one but not uninstalled and then reinstalled. While the installation isn't hard it's tricky (when you have to drill), in your case you will only have to deal with the electrical connections and double sided tape. This should be fairly easy and straight forward, not sure how the uninstall will go.

I would go OEM and just bite the bullet.

Two 3rd. Brakelights?

I just opened up the box and looked at the new spoiler and noticed it has a 3rd brake light as part of it. Since I have a base model g37x coupe, i already have a 3rd brakelight underneath the back window (inside). Gonna have to call the dealer to make sure its the right one or if they have a brake light delete option. Any ideas?

All OEM spoilers have the third brake light. You have two options. You can buy a new rear shelf without the light to replace yours or do what most people do and just disconnect the light on the rear shelf and if you get the window tinted you never see it.
