G37S Horsepower Questions
G37S Horsepower Questions
Hi I am Troy.
I have a Athens Blue 2009 G37S Coupe.
I actually like the car more now then when I first got it.
I plan on paying it off entirely this year so soon I want to put some upgrades on it.
Right now it has over 60,000 miles. Originally it has about 330 stock HP (not sure what goes to the wheel).
Was wondering how much HP did I loose? I am guessing around 12 to 15 already (just a guess). And is there some maintenance to gain some of that back with out adding a chip, pro air filters or exhaust upgrades (ect..)?
I am talking about just to get the compression back to when it was at 30k miles with out surgery. As we all know the 30k mark is when the HP seems to be at a stock peek.
Thanks for your suggestions.

Who says 30K is stock peak?
Take a compression test, and replace the spark plugs while you have them out. Youll be amazed.
Its Athens Blue (unless you repainted?)
Most of us get (give or take) 285-290 whp
Chips are a great way to blow your money on ebay. You might want to try this too... Universal Electronic Supercharger | eBay

I'm lost here! OP is lost as well! If you are following the recommended Infiniti pre scheduled maintenance your car, you will not lose HP. This all first starts at your first oil change using high quality oil and filters and not skipping your major service!
So I'm not sure why you think you are losing HP unless you are not taking care of your car! with that being said, your going to start having other issues as well!

I think he is talking about the fact that most cars test a bit quicker after they have been broken in, at around 30k miles. It is possible you might lose a little hp if indeed you have lost some compression, but as long as the car has been properly maintained, it is unlikely that is the case. If you are concerned have a compression test done as others have suggested.

Good suggestion. I may have a compression test at some point.
And yes Athens Blue not Aztec. My bad.
I just thought all cars lose HP over time and depending on milage. So I would think my car at 30,000 miles has a little more hp then at 60,000 miles from normal wear and tear. But I am a novice with cars and just listing to everyone I guess I am wrong.
Thank you for your answers.
