Like many of you I chose to store my G for the duration of winter. I opted to start my car twice during this time before spring. Today was to be the last time I started the car before spring. The battery was dead today, so I hooked up the booster cables to the G. As soon as the engine turned over and started, the car alarm went off. I immediately shut the car off, the alarm went off as well. I restarted the car, this time no alarm, but the drivers side window went all the way down leaving only about a inch of window still up. when i went to roll it back up the one touch feature wouldn't work. I had to hold the button until the window was all the way back up. As I went to leave the car, I opened the door and the window went all the way down to the same position. As a quick fix I just sat in the car until their was no more power in the system until I got out so the window wouldn't roll down again. I also tried the key in the door lock to put the window up, but it didn't respond it just stayed down.

Anyone else go through this, whats the issue here?

 

Just hold your window button all the way down for about 15 seconds then up for about 15 seconds. Should reset your windows. Repeat other window...

 

Might fix the window, but an explanation for the car alarm initially going off?

 

The alarm issue could be due to a quick surge of power activating it due to your battery being dead. Im a mechanic and have seen this before on different types of vehicles. When your battery is fully charged your alarm is always powered so this issue should be gone once your battery is good.

Yup, whenever the battery is disconnected, or in this case dead, you will need to do the reset procedure on the windows so the system 'learns' what all the way down and up are.

 

IMO, starting the car during winter is not a good idea. I'd hook up a battery tender to the battery (while neg battery terminal is disconnected from rest of car), and leave it be until you're ready to start driving again.

 

If you have it on a battery tender I don't see why you'd need to disconnect the negative terminal.

 

I left my car in the garage for winter as well. The battery juice is completely gone. I did boost my car once to roll up the window because whenever you open the door it slides down a bit. After that I had no issues like yours with the window coming down etc. I will replace the whole battery with a Optima RedTop when the snow melts. If you do decide to store it next winter put a batter tender on it that will keep your battery with juice.
