inconsistent keyless entry/start 2008 G37 coupe

[UPDATE--Intelligent Key battery Problem solved: Owner error...batteries in three keys all less than 2.8V, one recent replacement battery was cr2025 instead of proper cr2032 (20mm wide x 3.2mm high). Put the one old cr2032 back in that had 3+Vdc and key works fine. Sorry for confusion...my dementia is definitely progressing well. Now trying to find reasonably priced CR2032 from Amazon vendors. I think the replacement battery came with keyfob protector recommended on this forum, so keep checking battery voltages, and possible expiration dates on packages. Plenty of comments on Amazon of bad/weak batteries received.]

When away from the car for, say, more than a hour (not sure), I cannot start the car (or open anything, near or remotely) without putting the keyfob into the port of the dash (dash reports no key) or getting the key out of the fob for opening the driver's door. But after that and going shopping for 30 minutes and coming back to the car, the keyfob remote function works fine pressing the fob remotely or being near the car and pressing buttons. My two other keyfobs have the same problem. Any suggestions to restore consistent remote operation?

Battery was changed on one that had reported low battery (even though that battery reads 3.1Vdc). Since all keyfobs are acting the same, I think it is a car antenna system problem, but each door and trunk lid and the overall remote has a separate antenna, i believe, so something common to all being able to recognize the "near field" signal for authorizing the keyfob or recognize the keyfob radio frequency signal at some distance from the car.

I have heard something about a rogue FM radio station interfering with keyless starts in Hollywood, Florida, but doubt that is happening in my area, unless these new smart meters from Southern California Edison are on the same frequency? That would be a FCC problem to solve.

Hopefully, someone on this forum has experienced and solved this problem...thanks in advance.

Yea, every once in a while my car takes a long time to sense the key to start the car. I get the no key symbol.

I got it sometimes when I had the key in my wallet pocket. I keep my wallet in my front pocket and it has a magnetic money clip on it. I found if I keep the fob away from that clip, it works fine. That's just my observation...

Good ideas about check vehicle battery level and watching for signal interference, but, without testing, the car battery is the bigger size new this August and the car is starting fine (and I know of the ton of weirdness that happens with a low G37 battery); and the pocket signal interference would not account for when I press the keyfob buttons and nothing happens when standing away from the car.

To remind myself, p3-8 of Operation Manual says: "When the Intelligent Key battery is discharged or strong radio waves are present near the operation location, the Intelligent Key system's operation range becomes narrower, and the Intelligent Key may not function properly.
The operating range is within 31.5" from each request switch. If the Intelligent Key is too close to the door glass, handle or rear bumper the request switches may not function." p3-7:"do not place key near equip with magnetic field." p3-6:"when operating near a location where strong radio waves are transmitted" or "parked near parking meter" [yipes!].

I think it is something else. Glad the mechanical key and keyfob port inside still work.
