30K Service Question

My local dealer quoted me $900 for a 30K service which I thought was totally ridiculous. I looked at the maintenance schedule and it looks like that would be for the "Premium" service, but I don't want that because it's just a lease and I will be turning it in in about 15 months.

The schedule 2 only lists:
Replace engine oil and filter
Replace in-cabin microfilter
Replace engine air filter
Rotate tires (except G35 Coupe, Sport)

Is that sufficient to keep me compliant with whatever warranty and lease requirements there might be? Is it up to you to decide if you need schedule 1 or 2? I only do my oil changes every 7000 miles or so which is the schedule 2 interval. I live in the DC metro area, not sure if that's considered "harsh".

I have a 2010 G37x sedan btw.

IMO anything short of rural living/driving is considered harsh. Stop/go traffic is harsh.

See about getting the fluids changed at an independent shop. Should be less. Also don't forget transfer case/diff service and brake fluid flush. The air filters (engine and cabin) you can do yourself with parts purchased from amazon.

Oops, meant to put this in the sedan forum, sorry about that.

I just noticed that the schedule 1 and 2 30k service are exactly the same, so dumb question on my part. I'm not going to fool around with the premium service and changing fluids and all that, like I said it's just a lease.

I did the whole premium 30k service myself, which cost me about $250 in materials and about 6 hours of my time (might be a slight over-estimate). Try it out, it's fun and educational

Most of the stuff for the 30k is diy, minus a few of the bigger fluid drains. Unless you really push your car, there's really no point in changing them until at least 60k IMO

I paid for 30k because it involved more than 15k (serp belt, diff fluid, tranny fluid), which was 100% glorified oil change + air cabin filter

I did 15k myself, but paid for 30k because I just wanted to have a major maintenance on file with them to show nothing with engine and drivetrain was neglected in case I ever need to make use of drivetrain warranty.

just did my cabin filter took a whoping 30 mins and $15.00 for the air filter and oil changes can be done anywhere, nothing reallly special about our engines

you can do it for a fraction of the price

I just had my 30k done 3,000 miles ago. I did everything I could possibly do myself and got my state inspection for like $122 or something.

You can really do just about everything on it yourself.

I agree, if it's a lease and you know you aren't going to buy it out. Might as well save money and skip the recommended service
