Test Drive
While I agree that the OP's comparison is as weird as a Japanese gameshow, don't crap all over this thread. Comment on it or chuckle to yourself and move on without posting. And don't post a photo of a scorpion and call it a lobster, you'll seem foolish. Or maybe I just don't get the joke and I'm foolish. Anyway, keep it on topic.
LOL..come on now. He posted some cars around the 100k range and stated 135k in his post. I'm sure almost tripling his price point is within his budget for the 375,000$ vehicle..
What about a used Aston Martin DBS? Man those things are so nice, classy, and sporty all in one.

Hey was just a thought, LOL If has a 135k or so to toss at a car and still looking to buy a G37 why not,, When you have that kinda $$$ another few 100k is us like spending 10k.
..
Apologies to BB and the OP, but Tazicon's post made it irresistible. FYI, we tease Tim that it looks more like a lobster than a scorpion...Good critter ID skills.
For the OP, I find the most satisfaction by getting one car of each body type. This keeps you from comparing them to each other. I would either go for the 2 for 1 or get one used. A 997 911 Turbo will be quite affordable and just as pleasing when the new ones come out. It would be tough to really call many of them used with the insanely low average # of miles when they hit the market.

I can only comment and speculate as I have not personally owned a BMW, Merc, or Jag, and def not a ferrarri haha, although it would be amazing!
My roomate has a BMW 335... been in the shop multiple, and I mean multiple, times for the same problems. Often takes the tech a couple tries before he can diagnose the electrical problems. Would never buy as awesome as an m3 would be. I have heard of others saying their bmw's were in the shop more than on the road.
My GF's family is a Benz family. Her dad drives an e550amg and a GL550 Amg and her mom has an RL500. When he takes them to the shop (all dealership maintenance), it is very expensive, but seems reliable. Doesn't have all the problems a bmw has, but still expensive to maintain. Last august, he was b!tching about a $14,500 bill for all three cars. Also, oil changes are high as Benz seems to hold significantly more oil in the pans. I think his GL holds 10-12 quarts or something crazy. Diesel range.
I personally would never drive a jag as awesome as they are. Seems like a ticking time bomb. I drove jaguars for Jag harrisburg as a summer job 3 years ago (concierge service). The cars were awesome, but the electronics are a nightmare from seeing them in action in the shop. Those poor technicians. You should see the wiring behind the dash..... Wait till a switch goes out or quirks out and see how many hours it takes to find the problem.
Ferrari - dream car of mine but crazy expensive in every way. From ebay listings I've seen (no experience with them whatsoever so don't quote me), people would have listed they just had their 12,000 mile service performed and it was $12,500
ouch!
Porsche's seem to be fairly reliable but expensive to maintain like benz, probably a little more costly.
They G37 is an awesome car, hands down. No, it doesnt compare luxury, power, or status wise to the other cars you have listed. However, like you said, its a fun car to get some groceries in and pop around town. You would have plenty of $$$ left over if you wanted a fun car as well, especially after taking it in for maintenance.
Ultimately though, its up to you. Go test drive and re test drive everything until you find something that you just have to have. Thats how it was for my G. I know from when I first saw it on motortrends cover (g35) many years ago I would own one. And I think a ton of us all agree the g37 did not "look" quite right the very first time we saw it, but the look grew on a ton of people. I was the same way.
And don't forget, that exhaust sound is sex. I can hear a g or z a mile away and always stop to appreciate how good it sounds driving by

M3 DCT.
M5.
Panamera.
But G37 for the best bang for the buck. I think the new model with the updated front bumper looks really good. You can always change the body kit too.

I'm sure people who have $$$$$$$$$$$ to buy those $70-$100k cars they will be able to afford the maintenance.
Oh i hear you on that. Wait till you try to sell some used parts on this forum and see what people say of good pricing haha. Im just trying to help him out making him full aware of the additional costs. If i bought a car like that id want to know
And i agree fully. If you can afford one of those cars you damn sure can afford the maintenance with it. The op did say he is a little frugal though so maintenance etc might be a bigger factor than to some
