New member/owner saying hi, and an early observation
Bought the last new 2011 S coupe on the lot last weekend, so here I am. Black on black, black grill, spoiler, tinted, 6mt, 19" wheels, and loving it. Looking forward to being part of this community.
Quick observation...actually 2. First...the ambient consol light really threw me last night. First time driving at night, so it's the first time I knew it was there. Spent a while trying to figure out how to turn it off. Came here and learned its a "feature", and I think it's permanently on. Oh well.
Secondly....7,500 rpm redline, but is that real?? Winding the engine up even into the 5,000's-6,000's and it's screaming like thats redline and about to explode. Normal?!!

Welcome! and good buy you are definately in the right community
And yea 7,500rpm is normal lol dont forget your driving high end sports car now (ovbiously not as high end as ferrari but you know what I mean) Car was built for hauling a$$. Ovbiously you don't want to cruise around at high revs, and you don't want to be constantly shifting at 7,500 lol but every once in awhile you can
I think they consider the G more of a Grand Tourer aka GT car.
When you say "high-end", do you mean performance-wise or brand?
As far as performance, It's about as fast as a V6 Camaro or Mustang lol. That is by no means high-end performance. Think M3, CTS-V, and Challenger SRT-8 and other cars that are <13 seconds...those are more so "high end" if we are talking performance. The G is high 13's to 14 1/4 mile. It's quick but not fast! But that's just my opinion and I understand that it will vary based on other cars that you've driven or own.
As far as the engine, I've noticed the way the engine gets in that range as well. But I think I read something somewhere about how the engine is when you first buy it. I've taken mine to redline before and it was over 7,000. My biggest issue is that's where the horsepower is but like Bad G IPL said you don't want to be constantly pushing it at redline. I've said this 1,000 times but I really wish that Max HP was in the 4-5000 rpm range. That would also improve torque.
Welcome to the club. I think it will "open up" a bit more as you continue to drive it.
