Does Your G37 Instigate Road Rage???
Being 22 and driving a G37S I encounter all kinds of people in the Bay Area. Usually cars don't try to race me and they keep their distance behind me. But sometimes there are cars that purposely provoke me from Honda Civics to the Lexus IS. The ones that tailgate me the most are big trucks and SUVs. It just really depends on my mood that day if I respond to such provocation but most of the time I don't and just mind my own business. The Bay Area has all kinds of different people so I think it's just a normal thing.
Interesting thread. After reading it, I accept that it happens, and apparently is not caused by "azzhat" drivers in their Gs. Here in the Sacramento area, with nearly 4 years of driving my '08 G37S, I've never encountered a problem. Sure, I've seen bad driving all over the place, but none that seemed directed at my car. It's stock (except for tint on the rear windows), and I'm a retired old guy (buy don't I look young?). ,
However, I also ride a road bike (as in Specialized, not Harley), doing thirty to forty miles a day with a small group three times a week. There's where road rage counts! We're just skin and bones out there. Today, we're on a back country two-lane road with no traffic in our direction (it's farmland), and the ten of us are spread out across our lane. While we'd ride single-file whenever a vehicle is coming, it's good to ride side-by-side on an empty road and chat. So, a pick-up passes us in the opposite direction and the guys inside take the time to yell at us to use the "bike lane." Problem is, there is no bike lane there, just a narrow paved two-lane road. If you want to meet some "haters" ride a bicycle far enough. That said, most motorists are extremely courteous, pulling over to pass us, and often waving us through four-way stops ahead of them. There are all kinds of drivers out there.

Back to the G, I've had some random cars (mostly sh1ttier cars) that feel the need to zoom up past me, then slow down in front of me. Or they don't like it when I pass them and speed up as I'm driving past (a$$hole like, not racing like). Mind you, it's nothing unreasonable. As a matter of fact, it's always a car that anyone would pass were they driving with them. In any case, it seems to **** more people off for whatever reason.
I am 24 and get harassed all the time. To people tailgating extremely close, to slowing down in front of me to like 15-20 mph below the speed limit. I was dropping off a redbox DVD the other day and parked my car right out front and put the hazards on and left my GF in the car. Literally, a 15 second drop off and some woman walking by felt the need to stare at me and yell, "are you kidding me?" Which I just ignored and went about my business. I was doing nothing wrong, there is a pull off spot for drop offs. Also, recently had a guy in a Mercury Marine speed up and not let me in while merging on the highway the other day. He actually almost ran me off the highway. I don't know whats wrong with people.
Well road rage? No, but people who want to race and high school kids trying to race? Yes.
Actually, I take that back I remember when I got my car back in 08 people use to make stupid comments at the gas station like wow young boy how can you afford that car? Or comments like so is your Mom and Dad rich? I remember one time I just had enough of this crap and told this lady who asked me young boy did you buy that car with drug money? I told her "no maam did you buy that car sucking deck? She stayed quite after that.
But fast forward to the future, I just get high kids an ricers just wanting to race.

I get all types of cars trying to race me, never tailgating me though thank god; annoys the **** out of me. Had an Audi A4 full of kids race me once hahaha. I was like "really?", popped it into 2nd and off I went. They stayed pretty far back afterwards and probably felt really embarrassed as the driver did a u-turn at the next intersection (kekekeke). Please keep in mind that I mind my own business all the time.....
I think people are reading too much into the way people drive like cr4p...I don't believe it's directed at people because they drive a G.
I see this kind of driving almost every time I drive in the DFW area in Texas. It doesn't matter what car I'm driving and I see it happen to other people too.
It seems that most people these days just don't really care about how they drive...they act like they are in a protective bubble and can do whatever they want to whoever they want.
Most people should not take it personal...well maybe a few, but for the most part there are just too many idiots driving on the roads.

I don't know if because of the population explosion in Texas, change in driving attitudes, lack of good driver training, or people just don't give a **** today...
Dashkid, I know it's bad up in the Las Colinas area too...I drive 635 and sometimes 114 to Dallas from time to time for business.
While on topic, here's a recent video of a road rage gone bad: Freeway road rage fight ends badly
