Gas needle is never accurate?!

Darn thing is always jumping around by a bar or two. I took a 1,000 foot drive, shut off the car, turned it on a few minutes later and the needle dropped by a whole bar?!

I think I just get extremely bad gas mileage. Every time I drive to work (12 miles round trip) my needle goes down at least one bar, if not two. Not complaining (well sorta) just saying.

It's a common problem. There is a TSB to fix it if you're under warranty. I had it performed but within months it reverted back to being grossly inaccurate (completely full tank shows about 3/4 full now). Refilling the tank after the gauge reads empty and the DTE indicator shows no miles left only holds 14-16 gallons. I'm out of warranty now and it does bother me very much but not enough to pay to fix it considering it may not stay fixed again.

My gas mileage is pretty much in the pooper as well, my total average (I think lifetime of car) reads 15.2. Going 90% highway to school total of 80 - 100 miles a day, I end up fairly close to the half tank mark. I always need to fill it up after just 2 school days -_-

I have the older 5AT. Sux ballocks on gas.

@blackbetty I guess I won't stress over it then. Especially since it might break again. Doubt i'm under warranty.

My G37xS it not that good on gas. I think I get around 19mpg all around. My gas needle is annoying as well, and my car only has 5,000 miles on it. And gas is on the rise!

100 miles round trip. Sill sucks though. My trip is over an hour there and can be up to 3 hours back because of stupid NYC traffic.

HOWEVER, had I not been commuting to college and dorming instead, I would not have the G so I can't complain. My previous semester was driving there with a honda accord (1998). Wasn't the greatest and it didn't feel safe at all, especially in the rain.

Try to get it fixed. Mine was 3/4 on full tank and they fixed it for me at the dealer.

If your car is still under warranty, then get it fix from the dealer free of charge. My car had the same problem

So wait... if there's a TSB for the problem, and you're out of warranty, you have to pay out of your pocket??

Unless your dealer just wants to help you out, yes.

Ok...I'm glad to see that the full tank showing 3/4 full is a common problem bc it was driving me crazy... Not sure what TSB is if someone would explain for me but I'm going to check with my local dealer..
