Need some advice!!
ok maybe i am overzealous with my numbers. i could be happy with 600-700 which i know is achievable because others HAVE done it.. why can't i do it too? a general rule of thumb i've found is you can double HP numbers from stock with f/i alone, (of coarse with) a fully built and bored engine you can add whatever that will make to the 200% stock power. which puts this car right around 600-700 hp to the wheels. why are you guys knocking on me for wanting something others have already done? the only difference is i wanna do it in the awd version. If its not possible to get that power through the drive train than fine, but that is my question
lastly, wtf is this!!!
lol
lastly, wtf is this!!!
lolI built a twin turbo corvette c5. with 12k I made 535 to the wheels and it was built like a rock. But sold it to pay for school cause i still owed 7k on it ( i know don't give me crap for spending more on performance parts than i owed- i couldn't help it) and bought a nissan maxima (my rainy day vehicle) i mainly ride my 07 kawi zx6r.
My question is, why do you want so much power in your next car if handling is your goal?
You're sending a lot of mixed signals here.
In the case of your TT C5, do you think it would hold up on a road course? The C5 is a great platform to build on, but the LS engines just plain overheat, even in stock form.
When I build a drivetrain, I don't just build to put down a number. It's easy to have a quick spike. I look for powerband, reliability, and ability to run for extended periods of time without having problems. Have you ever seen a NASCAR radiator? Those cars are roughly 800hp, and their radiators are literally 3ft by 5ft by 6 inches. Makes a stock radiator look puny. That's what's needed to keep a 800hp output engine cool while running near WOT for extended periods of time.
Are you looking to build a car that can corner with or without aero assistance? (two totally different things)
Most importantly, do you know how to drive, or do you think you know how to drive?
As for the TT C5, what was your baseline? You can get a C6Z to those figures with just bolt-ons, and still have a superior car
What kind of manis? What kind of turbo? Then again, the LS7 doesn't last long at all under load.Have you considered a Miata (totally serious here)? It'll teach you to drive without aero. Then you move on to aero. Once you can keep a momentum car going, you move on to a platform with more power, and decimate.
Better is really subjective. In what aspect do you want it to be "better"? The vette is a great package overall for its price point.
And there's nothing wrong with STI's or EVOs. They would be a better AWD platform than a G37 and they can make big power with a few upgrades. Take a step back, think about what you want, then find a good base to build off of. After all, you can't build a skyscraper out of a sand castle. GL

i'd like to say i can drive pretty well. Im not the best but i can give the majority a run for their money. The reason i want to switch from my muscle to import is i had an eye awakening after driving my dad carrera. My god that thing can stick to the road...
yeah i couldn't afford a c6. and I had a LS1, turbo parts (turbine, waste gates, inter cooler, ect..) was bought from turbonetics, and was custom installed. I have a buddy who does f/i as a business and he had a great idea to put the turbos in the front quarter panels, which worked out as soon as we got the oil return problem solved.

What about the P-car sticking to the road stuck out to you? What kind of speeds, and what model does he have? Part of this may be mechanical grip from just having better tires, and part of it may be the fact that the car can just put down power better (less output, possibly AWD).
With these answered, we can probably guide you better.
Don't be quick to put off the subie/mitsu. They're pretty respectable platforms. The G37's AWD is not a performance oriented system, and isn't suitable for your needs at all.
i don't care about top speed
it must handle like a god..
and i want an awd automatic transmission (which is what i think is going to ruin this all for me)
I know i just described the Nissan GT-R, but again i want this to be a sleeper.. to address the sound concern, what i did in my vette is fit an exhaust cutout to res/mufflers and it was silent. hit a button and sounded like a thousand raptors melting on a super nova!
I completely agree with this. Save yourself up for a GT-R and it'll save you a lot of nonsense and will surely "decimate" your old Vette in practically every aspect. The picture you're painting of your ideal AWD monster just reflects a GT-R.
Ah, now this is the first substantial post.

i was obcessed with the sti for 4 years. but after driving one, i felt like i was in a toy.. it was a blast, but its just too small.. i feel like if i was ever in a wreck i'd immediately die...
I want it to be off the line faster 0-60 in around 4 sec, quarter mile in 10.5 i could be happy with that.

im not sure what model it is, he bought it when i moved to SoCal so start school..

Are you in socal? If you are, you seriously should come out to the track next weekend. You'll walk away with a new perspective on handling.
I can think of a few options. A built S4/RS4, which will require fabwork. Socal has a lot of great shops for this. A 996/997TT with bolt-ons. A GT-R with bolt-ons.
0-60 for what? Racing stoplight to stoplight? 50-70 or in your case, 80-130 is probably a more important figure.
The Subie chassis is one of the strongest chassis in production for under 100k
You're expecting a 90k income, with no problem spending 50k/year on a car. That's enough for a used GT-R and everything you need in 2 years.
Then again, I really don't think you should be doing that with your money, but who am I tell you how to spend your cash

Seriously though, come out to the track. A few other members of this board will be joining.
