Key fob setting off panic alarm in my pocket

I dont drive the G that often and only have its fob and house key on a ring but every time its in my pocket it sets off the alarm cause the damn panic button is flush with fob surface so whether pocket is loose or tight doesnt matter you walk with it the damn alarm goes off. My wife said even in her purse it sets it off now and then as well.

Just another small rant...I'm gonna get out the manual and turn the panic alarm off setting if I can.

Bahahaha, so it's really an emo alarm, not a panic button. Now it all makes sense.

Op that **** happens to me every day, few times a day too. I went to Infiniti and asked to take the panic button out and they couldn't do it. But they reset it so I have to hold it for a few seconds before it goes off. I bought a key cover from them and so far it
Only goes off when I sit on the key

Yeah, all kidding aside. The button goes off on me at the most inopportune times. It's kind of a PITA sometimes. I really don't know what I would panic about anyway. Actually, I panic when the panic alarm goes off.

Happens to me all the time. I actually pop the trunk open more often then setting the panic off.

I have never accidentally set off the alarm, but my trunk pops open quite a bit. A few times all the widows are completely rolled down when I have the car in my garage.
I've taken 4 longer trips with the G where I stay in motels. I'm always concerned that as I walk away from the car that the windows will roll down.
Shortly after i bought the car about 1-1/2 years ago, I put one of the rubber type protective covers on each of the smart keys, hoping that the buttons would be set back just a bit more and eliminate the accidental activation, but it still happens.
Normally I never remove the key from my pocket, so it would be handy if you could slide a switch on the smart key that would deactivate everything the key does except letting you start the car.

I finally put the fob in a plastic case so nothing is able to hit any buttons anymore in my pocket.

Good idea. I'll have to look for one that's about the right size. As I said in my previous response, I don't need access to the buttons.

Do you keep other things in your pocket? I've never had this happen to me.

Really? That's strange. For nearly four years that I've had this car, I've only set off the panic button twice. Once was indeed due to the fact that I had too much crap in my pocket and set it off while sitting down, but other than that, hasn't been an issue. I have absolutely no idea how it could've gone off in your wife's purse...

I will say that I bought Terry's leather key fob cover, but that shouldn't really change the likeliness of accidentally pressing the button.
