Advice/opinion needed, would you trade it?
Hello fellow g37 drivers,
I bought a used 2008 g37s premium about 1.5 year ago.
I must say, I like the car.
It reliable, fantastic dynamic qualities. Very versatile, sporty but comfortable, very good daily driver, very good in heavy traffic or empty freeway.
Handling is really good... I have nothing I do not like about the car, but I feel like driving something a little more exotic.
I am looking at a 2009 corvette c6 with 3500 miles...
The car has been modified, very well.
It has a z06 wide body kit
285/25/20 in front 345/25/20 rear.
Car is lowered
Premium sound installation all JL/pioneer.
The car is clean, never been raced, no engine mods, comes certified, 2.5 years of warranty etc.
Of course I am loosing money in the story... I bought the g around 30k and was offer a trade in at 25k (could have a little more by selling my self, but with the tax saving, it wont make a big difference).
The corvette would more expensive every month (sticker is at 40k)...and maintenance more expensive as well ( big tires...). I am fortunate enough that its something I can pay for, it wont make a big change in my budget.
Would you do it?
Would you rather drive this modified vette VS a stock g37s?
Do you think I will be dissapointed with the behavior/handling of the car?
I am a young guy (early 30`s) and there is a stigma with the corvette beeing an old`s man car. I am thinking it is probably less of a stigma on a modified car that looks more sporty.
Any input would be greatly appreaciated!
Thanks all

You certainly will be losing the reliability that you now enjoy with your G37 as Corvettes have historically been troublesome. You will also lose your rear seating, even though it’s a bit small. And as far as being a cop magnet, I bet the Corvette is #1 on that list.
I don’t know where you got the impression the Corvette is an old man’s car. I always thought it was a young man’s toy for those that have the income to drive a spirited sports car. So if that’s your status and you don’t mind the negatives, go for it.

^^ I see plenty silverheads driving vettes around. It is a favorite mid life crisis car that's for sure.
As for choosing in between both, I'm not sure if I can since both cars are so different.

The only people I know (total of two) that own 'vettes do all of the work themselves and haven't had any reliability issues. I've test driven two 'vettes and I really enjoy them, it feels like you're in control of a rocket.
However, I ruled it out for two main reasons. 1) It doesn't have a back seat. I don't technically need one since it's mostly just my girlfriend and I but it's nice to have one just in case I have company. 2) The interior feels a little dated and was missing a lot of luxuries that are in the G. So, overall, I felt like the G was a much better value for the money. But that's just my opinion, I'm a big value guy.

oh absolutely, the interior is outdated in the corvette. The G design and material s quality goes without saying.
My concern may sound crazy but I wonder about handling. I dont want to have a rear drifter... the G never surprises me. I have this concern with the vette, it is light.

True,
I had a sports bike for 10 years . But now I live in Miami, I decided against it. Too dangerous given the roads, the drivers, the weather.
Plus...it is usually too hot/humid.
For this one, even if I d love a ninja, I chose wisdom.
That is probably why I am more looking for fun in the car direction.
Bringing the weather concern, that is another one with the vette.
345 rear tires on a light car, on a wet road... not good at all. But I am aware of that :/

I am not sure it is a great deal. The car is sport/premium and has only 27000 miles. to me it is just an acceptable deal, with the tax saving, it is like selling it 27 myself. no?

I am going to answer my own question...
I read some of you saying that comparing those 2 cars was comparing apple and orange...well thats true...
G= cosy, luxurious, elegant, quiet
Vette= low, rough, sporty, loud, agressive
2 different philosophy really. I realized that after doing another test drive on the vette.
I am not sure if I want to compromise comfort over fun
Thanks all again

I would never consider such a trade. I don't see why you would consider a 'vette an exotic vehicle. It's a very very well-known American muscle car. Muscle = exotic? The 'vette is definitely a mid-life-crisis car. They are horribly overpriced, unreliable, and are nothing more than a motor with a cage around it for you to sit in. It's not even an updated cage. They look exactly the same as they did 20 years ago.
I could understand going for one of those old Stingrays, if it were in addition to your garage, not a vehicle replacement. Trading your G for a daily driven 'vette seems insane to me.

I’ve always been partial the older Corvettes, like the ’67 and other Stingrays pictured below. But when they got longer and lower I sort of lost interest.
