OEM Valve Body, Upgraded Valve Body or Built Transmission?

I have a 2017 Q60 Red Sport which I take to HPDE about 10-12 days a year. It is heavily modified in terms of suspension, seats, harnesses, brakes, wheels and tires but the engine and tune are stock (for now). It has about 51,000 miles and I am dealing with the common bad valve body issue.

From what i see online, new valve body from Infiniti is about $1,600-$2,000. I will not go used as a preventable failure costs me a lot of money with lost track time that I paid for (and lodging, etc). I could then send the new valve body off to Level10 or IPT to be upgraded for another $600-$800. They state that this helps improve shifting speed but I don't have a great understanding of what they upgrade and how much it impacts performance. Does the upgrade lead to better durability as well?

Or I could spend a lot more money and get a built transmission from Level10 or IPT for $5k or more. I believe this gets me the upgraded valve body and would make my car ready for much more power if I ever go down that route.

I am leaning towards just using a new OEM part and not spending additional money on upgrades but I would love to hear some feedback from others. I know my car isn't quite the same as the G37 but should be similar enough and I have a feeling people on this forum have dealt with this issue way too often sadly.

@IPT_Trans can confirm, but I believe their upgraded transmission leverages your existing valve body. Seems that RE7 valve body issues are far more common on the newer revision of the transmission in the Q. Lots of folks with the same transmission in the G37 are racking up over 200K with no major issues.

Just had the valve body replaced on my 2015 Q60 coupe. First shop said it was my trans so I asked what the code was. Valve body is not the transmission. I looked up the one I needed so when I did find someone who would work on this I knew exactly what I was talking about. I found a guy who said he replaced over a dozen of these and it’s common. At 65000 miles i couldn’t be happier with the way the car is running! Replace the valve body. It’s the computer that actually took a dump and they don’t sell that separately. The total job with labor was 2400 and worth every penny. Next I have to get a new dash bc mines all sticky
good luck!

This is an excellent find @emdimaggio2 . Would you mind sharing the name of the mechanic/shop as it’s really hard to find folks with Jatco trannie valve body experience. Most just want to replace the entire transmission

Any feedback from people who have tried the upgraded valve body? I am tempted as they claim faster shifts and better durability, both would be great on track.
