tire tread life is measured by miles, not how many seasons. snow tires are a soft compound so if you drive them outside the winter season, they will wont last long. I have run lm-25's and lm-60's. I wouldnt do a winter without them.

I just purchased my 2008 g37s coupe last week, and thinking about winter options now, as I'm guessing it will get more expensive when we get closer to that time.

I thought the G is horrible..Even with Blizzacks? I have Blizzacks but I am still petrified about the winter...It really will hold its own alright?

 

I don't have Blizzacks on mine, but I drove it last winter in some pretty heavy snow storms, home from my office and never had a problem. Just have to be careful and not jam on the gas to go. When my snow tires are shot, I'll replace them with the same ones that I have now. I felt more comfortable driving my RWD coupe with snow tires in the snow than I did driving the AWD X sedan I had as a loaner once.

 

Here's some sound advice.. don't drive it in the winter!

ok ok.. snow tires are good to have, also since it's a rear wheel put 2 to 4 cinderblocks in the trunk (i'm serious) as this will weigh the back of the car down and increase traction. Otherwise.. pack a shovel and a bag of sand.
I grew up in Mass, so I've seen my fair share of snow.. I had my G in Virginia for a winter and it's not the best in the snow.. any rear wheel drive isn't good in the snow for that matter.

 

I have had blizzaks since I got the car in 2008. I have driven in numerous blizzards and nor'easters. NEVER has my car failed me or I ever got the sense that I was losing control of the car..Blizzaks gave me perfect control along with traction in the snow sleet whatever it may be...As long as you drive sensibly, you will be fine..No need for cylinder blocks and all that stuff to add weight in the rear.

I got my package from Tire Rack and as many stated already, it was really easy, not fitment issues with the calipers and what not. I got the wheels and tires for winter (18's) and they so far I just completed my 3rd winter with them and the tires still have approx another season left in them..

 

I say your best bet would be to purchase a set of new wheels and tires from TireRack. Might be expensive but wheels and tires are the only thing between you and the road. Tires are mounted and balanced for free, then shipped to your house. You don't have to worry about fitment issues if you go through their website. I agree on the Blizzaks, read the TireRack reviews. Neal from TireRack is on this forum if you have specific questions.

Or you could do what I did and buy snow tires for the OEM wheels. It gave me the perfect excuse to buy a nice set of summer wheels to put the OEM Bridgestones on. Good luck.

 

Is the LM-60 really the only option for the stock 19's?

I don't know if I really want to shell out for a third set of wheels or not. Hmm.

 

OMG plz stay away from blizzacks. HAd them ahtedf them threw them out with one season on them and went with the pilot alpins. 10000000% better. Got to go down to 18" though

 

your best bet for the winter will be to downgrade to 18s and yes, a designated set of wheels will help alot seeing as they will be ONLY for winter.

what was your issue with the blizzaks? which ones did you have? Had mine for 3 winters now, LOVE them..

 

Well considering my stock 19's sit around in my garage, I was going to use them for the winter. Only problem is the LM-60 looks like the only option and they have mixed reviews.
