08 g37s 6mt. Odd noise.. not sure what it is [video]

YouTube - ‪g37s 6mt whine between 3500 and 4500 RPM‬‏

Any ideas? My dealer is kinda flighty, so I hope they cover it.....

It happens in all gears, and neutral between 3500 and 4500 RPM.

does it sound like it comes from the engine or inside the car? wondering if it could be the guages or something. either way, i would take that to the dealer asap... it could be nothing, but then again it never hurts to know.

i would be curious to find out what it is.

[edit]

just realized it's an '08... not sure if you have warranty... might still be worthing paying a good infiniti tech to take a look at it though.

The car is under warranty.

The noise is kinda omnipresent... It sounds like it is coming from the shifter, but when I move my head around the cabin it is hard to say for sure.. I revved it in the garage with the windows down and it doesnt seem to be outside the car (as far as I can tell). Everything feels fine when driving... so strange.

It could be something as simple as the gauges. Good Luck.

This seems like it ould be a belt or engine accessory (alt, ac, ps, etc).

Another vid -- This one in neutral. The noise seems to only be dependent on engine RPM

Hmm.. this guess makes the most sense so far... I need to have someone rev while I listen under the hood.

Still haven't had a chance to get to the dealer. I work the exact hours they are open.

I'm 99% sure it is not the instrument cluster (not sure why so many people think it is). The noise occurs when the RPM is held steady with no movement on the tach, and nothing I know of from the few instrument clusters I have disassembled could make that noise.

It sounds like it is coming from the shifter or center console, but when I move my head to the center of the car, I can't tell where it's coming from. The car is still driving completely normal.

I feel like there might be something loose in or around the shifter that is vibrating.

Just bumping and updating this really quick:

I'm ducking out of work a little early on Monday to swing by the dealer... The noise is now in the 4500-7000 range, but has the exact same frequency(tone, pitch, ect). That would lead me to believe it isn't a belt driven accessory. I'm completely stumped.

Any last guesses? Black Betty? Anyone?

I hope the dealer has a loaner available on such short notice...

Thanks for all the input these last several days.
