6MT only: Leaving your car running

I got a question. I know auto guys can start the car and leave the car running without someone being able to take the car.

What about manual guys. the car is running. WIll it shut down if someone takes off with the car when its running without the key?

it won't shut down and will keep running as long as that driver doesn't turn off the engine. even when you turn off the engine and if the door isn't opened, it'll restart again.

even if you break all the keys and remove the batteries... just in case you were thinking of that one.

That sucks. I thought i'd be able to keep it running. Why in the world did they allow that? The car beeps at me when the key is gone from the car. Well, So much for starting her up and letting her warm up before I leave work.

You can still start the car, then lock all the doors and leave the key with you. That's what I do.

Maybe that's why our clutch has such a high learning curve w/ the engage point.

They might stall it and be ****ed. lol.

yep. great idea.

It is not only infiniti: lexus does the same thing as well.

i think the car will never shut off just in case of a key failing for whatever reason (you wouldn't want to break down on the highway for example)

Thats so if your girlfriend pulls a Rihanna and throws your keys out the window you wont have to be mad at her at hit her! Your car will still run. Props to Infiniti.

car makers should do something about this issue. IMO even if you lock your car, thiefs can just break your window to open the door and drive away with your car even without the key.

They should develop a system that if the key is nowhere to be found within a certain range and someone steps on the brake the car will automatically shut off.

I can see if the battery died in the remote, but they need something to stop the car.. Maybe if the car starts moving without the key have a beeping and 30 second warning that the car will shut down unless key is brought back into range.
