snow mode vs vdc

whats the difference between vdc and turning the snow mode on? dont both do the same thing by controlling engine output to avoid wheel spin?

I've been wondering this too because when I put it in snow mode I don't notice any appreciable difference in RPM levels. If I stomp it in D I can still get it to rev up to 6k, which seems odd.

vdc increases or reduces throttle input and applies breaking to either of the wheels in order to keep the car on the road. snow mode makes the throttle less sensitive to throttle input. do you ever notice when you suddenly hit the gas without snow mode say 30% of the way down, the car seems to react as if it had full throttle? there is another throttle sensitivity thread you can search which specifies that throttle input is not linear on the g37 and that snow mode makes it very close to being linear.

Snow mode only regulates sudden changes in engine torque output by reducing throttle input. So if you stomp on the throttle it'll still accelerate just more slowly as snow mode will minimize sudden changes in engine output.

VDC control engine output and the car's brakes only when a slip is detected. If you mash the gas pedal ansd there's no slippage then the VDC system will not do anything.

However, the snow mode is "always on" when you activate it regardless of whether or not there is any loss of traction.

Snow on the ground, vdc off, forget the snow switch, sport shift mode 1st gear, awd 7AT = SLIP light flashing in seizure mode and you doing donuts reguardless off all these systems :-)

Not that I condone such behavior
