IPL G37 Exhaust Note + Drive By's + small review

YouTube - Infiniti G37 IPL edition

So for those who were wondering what IPL sounds like on start up, driving by, or exhaust note, I managed to find a small clip / review that could answer those questions. Take some time and enjoy !!

Wish they offered it in Obsidian or even a color shifting black/grey (like audi phantom black). The malbec is cool but shifts between black/dark purple and even brown. Seen the malbec on the M's but want to see it on the IPL in person before deciding to "upgrade" from an 08 to IPL or just wait for the next gen 2013 model year. IPL is a good buy for new G buyers like coming from a BMW or even G35, but does not make much sense for those who already own G37's. I basically already have all the mods wheels/exhaust/etc that the IPL has in my current 08 so we'll see! Actually I would really just want the white gauge lights! Infiniti take a cue from lexus/audi and make the needles sweep on startup too

Wow, that announcer is totally inaccurate. "upgraded steering and brakes to handle the additional power"....wtf? Its exactly the same as a sport with an exhaust and a light tune (probalby just leaned it out a tad). It doesnt cost much more and to somebody who likes the body kit its worth the premium, but marketing it as a big performance upgrade is lame!

I'm still waiting to see some road tests of this car. The body kit is still hideous though...

Not much different in HP/torque/0-60 but hugely different in $. Pointless release to me, they should use GT-R engine with turbo for this car

infinti trying to tap a market half fast.
cmon bump 50-100 hp then slap an ipl on it.
sorry to say you can get the same whopping 18hp now.
6 lb/ft of torque increase. Make it like 350 390 tq at least.
I would pass on this one sorry ipl, you fail.

they changed the brakes? i didn't notice... looks like the same ol' sports brakes that came on the 08 - current sports models. Did anyone ask what happened to Nissan putting Brembos on the G... The IPL should have got those at the LEAST.

The Akebono brakes on the G37S and IPL are bigger, and better, than the Brembos the G35 had.

HUGE money? I wouldn't call it huge, its only 5 grand. If you are somebody who likes the interior changes (I do), upgraded wheel finish (I do) and sideskirts/bumpers (I dont) then it is fair money. Most people on here spend that much on appearance and exhaust, for some who want a factory fit and finish and warranty it may be worth it.

You do realize the GTR motor would require a 500hp-capable drivetrain (upgraded tranny, hardware, diff, axles, etc), fuel system, etc and add $20k to the price tag, not 5k, right?

I dont think many consumers are going to spend $65k on an IPL G37 when they could get an "elite" AWD GTR for $10-15k more. But they might and thats the next logical step. They are just testing the waters, it is what it is and its at least a step in teh right direction. As long as they quit marketing it as something its not I'm fine with them doin git....

well yeah.. that was almost 10 years ago..I'm willing to assume the non S brakes are better than those.. it's almost a decade later. I'm sure stock Brembo's it would come with now, would be better than sports brakes today... I'm just saying they put the same brakes on their "IPL" as the S, and it's susposed to be their fast car..... I guess the engineers at Nissan knew it wouldn't be that much quicker, so no need to upgrade the brakes..

Exactly. Its not like they need 6 piston brakes to stop 18 more hp
