Getting Service at the dealer

I've always gotten my car serviced at the dealer....is it okay to just do the oil change and not the "big service" that is like $400? do they really check everything? how do i know they checked everything? Am i supposed to get a form saying they checked it? Not sure if i'm just getting ripped off.

I actually do the opposite... Do the big service at the dealer and oil cycles and minor stuff
at home... Dealer should give you a detailed sheet with everything done each service AND
you should have to sign it! I actually forgot to take mine with me last time and they mailed it!
