That's after the 2 second shift lag that occurs due to the computer realizing you want it to shift.

DCT is a different story. Too bad G's don't have that.

These transmissions are not made to shift fast or hard. It takes a loooong time for the stock auto to complete a shift. A shift kit would do wonders.

Yea but I think DS offsets that pretty well. In D, the shifts are slow as **** though

Go experience a built TH400 or powerglide and you'll think different.

I'm talking about stock for stock on a G37....I don't think it shifts incredibly fast, but definitely faster than a human.

Not so sure about that. The slush boxes in the G37 are really nothing to brag about. After driving both...for a fact, I can shift way harder in the 6MT.

Seems like I'm not alone...

The Hypertech Max Energy seems like just the kit to improve AT shifting. It's from Lou, I might get it.

Not necessarily. Just saying the AT tranny wasn't built to be that aggressive. Nor did I find it to shift fast. Actually, that may be one of the only times I've heard someone say the AT shifts fast at all.

AT Tranny not built to be aggressive? How do you define aggressive? The auto can be pushed just as hard as a manual and be fine. Yes there are shift lags, but its actually one of the better ATs i have seen. I think debating speed between a 7AT and 6MT is rather pointless. The numbers will be negligible. It really boils down to what you like better. Anyone who claims one is better than the other is just spitting out their bias towards one transmission over the other. Pick the one you want and be happy with it.

Originally planed to get g37S MT coupe but got no stock in dealership but great cheap offer on 09 g37x coupe/premium 09 leftover and I got it. No regrets on 7AT tranny, very responsive and fast shifts. Also 7 gears saves some gas for sure. However next G coupe will be MT anyway I just prefer control car myself....
Also just be real, 80% of the time we are in heavy traffic where MT is tough, but still like it more.

if you wanna choose car .01 faster, instead of finding which transmision is faster, you should start losing some weight, jk lol (may b u r already skinny) or take out couple of heavy textbooks and dirty shoes out of your trunk. It is that merely a differnce.

Comparatively vs SMG III or DCT transmissions, its just not as quick shifting and neck snapping.

If you're comparing it to a honda auto transmission, sure...its "aggressive".

Its relative to the cars you're used to.
