I took this same curve at a similar speed in my piece of **** front wheel drive 3000gt, I'm pretty sure I could've handled it in the g37 without VDC help....Keep in mind, this was NOT a sharp curve whatsoever(see below) and it was a 4 lane road.
Wow, you just said it yourself. FWD car. It's like comparing apples and oranges. Aren't you more likely to spin out in a RWD car if you get on the gas too much during a sharp turn than a FWD car?
Are we talking about the G37 here? I might have gotten lost. Someone said that "too much torque" would cause you to lose control. I'm still in for that "buckets of torque" group buy if anyone every finds them.
I would love to see what some of you guys would do behind the wheel of a Viper. Just make sure you wear a diaper.
sorry i've got mods in my car and i find it hard to control it on first gear (with VDC off), am not sure about stock G37s and btw it's EASY to lose control of car if your push the car with the steering wheel turned TOO MUCH in the corner.

Keep practicing your driving. I'm sure you'll learn to handle the power some day.

You do realize, the 3000GT is a lighter car than your G... and FWD cars dive into corners, while RWD cars power out.
VDC does not help unless tire speeds are out of whack.

You do realize that my 3000gt(one of the heavier trims) was about the same weight than the g37. There's a reason the 3kgt always gets made fun of for its heavysettedness.
I won't argue about the RWD vs FWD thing, but as I said earlier I didn't accelerate during the turn at all just maintained the speed I was at.

I owned a VR-4. The VR-4's weight is about the same as a G37. The SL/GT/Base models are all lighter, significantly lighter in some trims, ranging from 150-400 lbs lighter. It's only further compounded by the fact that both cars use the front same tire size... If you didn't accelerate, VDC was kicking in because you are getting lateral slip.
The G is by no means a very difficult car to handle, it drives very predictively. Which is why I turn the VDC off as soon as I turn the car on(rainy/snowy weather excluded). I agree with the OP, I think it often hurts more than it helps. If you can't handle this car stock then please never opt up to a faster RWD car.
