Steering Column Rattle

Does any experience a slight buzzing or rattle from the steering column when going over un-smooth roads? I have this annoying noise and want to take it to the dealer to get it resolved but I'm afraid they will not be able to reproduce the problem or worse exacerbate the problem making the noise louder. I'm not sure if this is the same problem as the noise coming from the windsheild but from what I have read on the forum this is not a popping noise like other people have.

Any thoughts?

It may be this. Does it sound like a tapping noise like someone clicking a computer mouse?

I just got it done at my dealership.

You're welcome and good luck. I think the TSB I posted is more of an early 08 model issue. So if you have a newer G, they may diagnose it as something else, but it always helps to hand them to TSB and ask them to verify if that is the issue.

I had a similar problem that just got fixed yesterday. The TSB didn't apply since the noise speed didn't increase/decrease with the RPM's. It sounds very similar to sitting on a creaky wooden chair. Anyway, they had my car for 6 hours (thank God for the loaner), but after I got it back, I haven't noticed it since. My service adviser said the noise was coming from two places, one being the windshield and another behind my instrument cluster.

One of the techs did a ride along while I tried to duplicate the issue. Of course, my damn car has to behave every time I bring it to the dealership, but I did manage to get a couple of slight creak noises out, which the tech noticed later. I also had a video of the noise on my iPhone which I replayed to the tech, and he definitely noticed it then. My advice is to get some footage of the issue and bring it with you to justify your case.
