Why is it that my new car must be tortured

First a deer runs into my side door which results in about 2k in damage repairs.

and now some jerk side swipes my car in a hit and run. My mirror got practically ripped off the hinge and is hanging on by the wire. I have such bad luck.

and to top it off my insurance will probably go up because of this.

On the bright side.. I dont have to replace the door and quarter panel again? haha

i wouldn't even go through insurance for that. Sucks it happened but it will be cheap enough to fix with cash.

I agree - Not sure what the mirror goes for, but it is probably cheaper then the deductible.

oh my car has been through hell since i've got it. I've owned it for a year and two months and here is what has happened so far:

1) Drunk girl threw handful of rocks at it 3 days into ownership(paint needed to be fixed)
2) Kids walking home after school threw big sticks at it at a stop light(was able to clean it myself)
3) Old lady hit my car in a parking lot making me need a new bumper and some body work
4) Car was put on blocks and rims were almost stolen (cops caught them in the act)
5) Drunk girl backed into my rear end and caused some minor paint issues
6) stupid raccoon the size of a dog ran infront of my car on the highway @70-75mph need another new front bumper.

1)throw the rocks back at her
2)beat the **** out of any kids that would do that
3)tell her to get some glasses...then call the 5-0 and make sure she pays for it
4)good thing the cops caught them

I had a very similar incident happen to my G37 when I was at a party in a bad part of town. Somebody took it upon themselves to break my passenger side mirror by pushing it forward until it broke. Took it to the dealership, it ran me around $800 or so. I didn't bother haggling or anything (which probably could have saved me some cash), so see what kind of quote you can get.

Unhappy

I'm in the same boat with everyone else:

1) sunroof shattered after 3 months of owning the car (got it replaced for $700 at the dealer);
2) got pulled over 4 times (and twice was in the carpool lane with my daughter by the same cop and for the same reason); and
3) 2 rear end accidents less than 1 month a part

ugh...

1) Jail isn't fun
2) Jail really isn't fun for beating up middle school kids when im 27
3) Cops got her and she paid for all damages
4) Yea, but they only got 18 months probation
5) I saw it from like a block away as I was walking towards the car, all I could see was it was a black cobalt with an FSU tag
6) Hell yea stupid animal!

heh wow some people got worse luck them me.. ouch...

Also its bergen county, nj

Anyone replace their own mirrors? Ive looked at all the service manuals and how to disassemble the mirror. Doesnt seem to be that hard.

My question however. I am going to need a whole new Mirror Assembly. If I order the new assembley does it come with the wires that are already inside the assembly or am i going to have to transfer those from the old unit? That seems like a really complicated procedure.

The glass and outter cover i can transfer as they are not damaged.

Anyone got experience in this?
