car is not stable on the road.

hey guys,

im having a promblem keeping my g37s straight on the road, its keep swerving, not all of the time(mostly when driving spiritly ) , but most of the time. i just had an alignment done, but my rear tires have 90% thread and my fronts are worn alot due to camber, the inner threads of the front tires are bald, is this the promblem? or could it be something else?

thanks

are you dropped on anything? did you try getting your wheels balanced? very strange you are getting front tire wear and not rear considering you have a rwd.

Maybe check the wheel balance and alignment.

Does it do this on a concrete road? Asphalt roads commonly get wheel grooves pressed into them over time from heavy trucks driving on them, & that will tug your steering in one direction or the other, depending on if you are riding on the left or right side of those grooves.

Concrete roads don't get those grooves, but the right lane is usually tilted toward the side of the road, to run off rain water, & the car can pull right because of that.

My G was one of the best tracking cars I ever owned. Something is screwed up. Take it back to the shop/dealer that did the alignment and try again. Check the Toe settings.

replace your worn out tires before it's aligned.

That is exactly how our car responds. I also believe the OEM tires contribute to this. I believe it has been called "tram lining." I've check the steering linkage because it sort of felt felt like one wheel wanting to go its own way. The steering is tight and without play. Tires wear well and the steering is straight. So, I'm convinced this is the tire tread and will look for different tire at replacement time.

The 370z I rented last June didn't behave like this and it uses wider tires.

I'm really new to my '08 G37S, but I also feel like it's really twitchy compared to any other properly aligned car I've ever driven. The car sticks like glue in the corners, but is really tough to drive in a straight line without constantly having to make very minor steering adjustments.

I bought it about 1,500 miles ago with 19k on it, and had to have the dealer replace the front tires for the same reason - insides were totally worn, although the rest of the tread was pretty decent, and the rear's were still in good shape. I've never been a fan of OEM tires and had the opportunity to get rears at cost at the same time, so I switch to Yoko S Drives in 245/40's for the frts, and 275/35's on the rear, and had a 4 wheel alignment done (even had the alignment re-checked when I put on a set of winter wheels & tires a couple of weeks ago).

You just answered your own question. Change out your front tires and get it aligned and it should be good again.

I had this with the stock tires but when I got new tires with wider front and wider rears the entire issue went away.
