Drove a 7AT this past weekend

My Dad works for infiniti and has been driving it for about a month now. I went home for the weekend and drove it while I was down and wanted to share my thoughts.
I was a little disappointed. I think it is still quicker than the 6AT but I was hoping that it would be a little more responsive. My big beef with all automatics is that when you step on the gas it always takes a few seconds for the car to go. With the manual it responds right away. I haven't driven a manual yet but I think it's pretty safe to say that I will be getting the 6MT when it comes time to make my purchase.
Don't get me wrong, the 7AT is an improvement and is a great automatic transmission but the manual is still and always will be king.

I drove a 7 speed automatic as well this weekend. I thought I would be a little disappointed thinking it would be a little less sporty than a 5 speed, but it's a good match for the car as it sits stock. I wonder how it will react once some more horsepower is added to the 3.7L.

Serious question here. I test drove an 09 last Friday. I've talked to a couple dealers in the last couple days that say the 09's are "on the docks" being held until Infiniti releases them. I also got a couple dealers saying that they have demos but are not allowed to sell them. I didn't think anything of it at the time but I swear it had an 09 sticker on it. Something special about the paint too. Am I missing something?

I remember one more thing. We talked about financing being 3.9 or 4.9 (or something like that) for that particular car. Not the 0 or 0.9 like it is for the 08's.

7AT vs 6MT is apples and oranges, but it is nice to see that automatic owners are getting an improvement over last years slush box.

yup 09s have been at the docks but infiniti is worried the 08s wont move when they release them. so they are holding the 09s to clear out more of the 08 inventory and giving really good deals.
