OMG This thing moves!!!
Dont get me wrong, this is a phenominal GT sport coupe, every luxury ammenity you could ever want, very comfortable, very good looking, very functional, easy to drive and gets tons of girls. As a performance car, on paper, its decent but nothing to shake a stick at. .86g on skidpad, 0-60 in 5.4sec, braking distance is good but this car is by no means a rocket ship. 0-60 is sub 5 is fast to me, the 335i does 0-60 in 4.7, that sucker is fast! Porche and Vette, mid to high 3's!

you cant lie, the looks on this car is dead sexy with rims, tints, rear valance, and black taillights. i was driving with my parents with me driving their work car and they driving the g. i was in awe on how the g looked. i was drooling for 40 minutes on the trip home.
.86 on the skidpad???? I think that number is low.
I think the number I saw was .89. However skidpad numbers are heavily influenced by temp., tire tread depth, road surface. .86 is very conservative. I've been running a G-dyno that I've consistently gotten over .86 and not on a spike. I recently, recorded a run at .91G. I'll try to get a new run so I can get a picture to post.
I agree that the G37 comes into it's sweet spot at higher speeds, Definitely, NOT off the line! The Chassis is super smooth = fast in the turns in the hands of a skilled driver. Any driver around will tell you that the turns will make or break your lap times. Watch this Lewis Hamilton on a wet track beats 4 of 5 drivers that ran on a dry track, in a piece of crap car. Handling and driving are that what makes a car Fast.

You should be able to easily carry 25 Mph into a hard 90 degree turn that puts you at about 3000 RPM in 2nd just coming into the torque. A good left hander you can run at 40 easily and it takes 50-55+ to get the tires talking (w or w/o traction control) and really work the traction control if you leave it engaged.
Have fun......

So the G37 has more HP compared to the 335, but is heavier and slower. Had a G35, have a 335 coupe and am considering a G37 in the spring. I remember the G35 feeling like it sort of drove like it was heavy. How is the G37 with respect to this?
HP is only one part of the equation though, the 335i has a massive torque curve.
Yea, I'd heard that they were underrated initially, but that after the first bunch that BMW detuned them and they were actually putting out closer to 300 instead of 350. I have no idea what mine is putting out as I haven't dyno'd it. The thing sure is super fast though. Can't argue with that. The twin turbo doesn't hurt I suppose.
I'm still torn as to what to get next. I like my 335 and the European Delivery experience is amazing!, but the G does have some nicer features. Although iDrive is being updated for 2009 so maybe the nav will be a little better. Infiniti has a better nav from my experience with the 2. Both on routing and even just in the sound of the voice.
The proof is in the pudding, G37 and S model are slower than G35. If you think this thing is fast you have no idea what cars are capable of! Make a friend who has a 911 Turbo or a new Corvette ZR1, those will run 0-100 in half the time the G will.
My 05 WRX Stg II wagon was faster than my G. I used to race guys in G35's (only up to freeway speeds of course) and beat them all day long.

Turn-in on the G37 is much better than the previous G. Handling feel is also much better. You can still feel the weight but it executes the turns much better than the previous gen and without as much body flex and roll. The steering has a much lighter feel as well.
1200 is the break in period according to the owners manual. I used that as the rule of thumb both my G35 and G37. It might vary for each car/ each person's driving habits etc... Many will say ther eis no break-in period. But that's people's personal opinion and there are mag results showing improved performance after break-in.
I wouldn't say tht the G37 is slower than the G35( current gen Sedan). It is definitely faster than the G35 coupe and previous gen Sedan. There is no real proof of it being slower.. If you are talking 0-60, that's not an real depiction of which car is faster. Those numbers are always all over the place. You have to look at 1/4 mile times and trap speeds. The G37 also reaches 150 a few seconds faster than a G35. Distance over time is always a better measure of a cars performance than hoe fast it reacheds a certain MPH- particularly when you are talking about tenths of a second.
I ran 13.7 @ 103 bone stock in my G37S 6MT. Has a G35 done that?
