Who has the technology package?

Hi

After viewing the options and packages the technology package (for 1,150) only seems useful for the Adaptive Front lighting System

has anyone had experience with this at night / curving mountain roads /freeway / parking whatever and would like to share?

also preview braking looks like an interesting option, has it actually helped anyone who has it?

same for the 4-wheel active steer

I have the tech package.

AFS: It's nice how the light bends around turns. This is more of a safety feature to improve visibility. I could very well manage without it, but it's "cool" to have.

Laser Cruise: I used it more in the beginning when I got the car, but not so much anymore. It does annoy me when the freeway takes a modest turn and a car in the next lane gets caught in the laser, which slows down the car (only happened to me twice though). I do love how the car "intelligently" gauges car lengths and accelerates/decelerates to adjust, but since I live in California and have mostly short drives, I haven't found much use for it, or cruise control itself for that matter. Your decision should really depend on the driving conditions you're accustomed to.

Preview Braking: Like Max said, I haven't experienced this (and hope some day I won't have to). But if this thing works as advertised and could potentially save your life, it makes the whole package worth EVERY PENNY.

I've got the Technology package and 4 Wheel active steer on my car and am very happy with both.

I love the AFS system and how much more visibility it gives you on night drives and manuevering the car around corners in the dark.

Haven't had to try out preview braking yet, luckily...

The Intelligent Cruise is pretty sweet, especially for highway driving. I just set it and go. I have yet to use the "standard" cruise control since I bought the car. Only on 1 instance has the Intelligent Cruise annoyed me.

4 Wheel Active Steer- Love the handling of the car with it and how much more aggressive (speed wise) you can take corners and other rapid manuevers. I will definately have this option on my next vehicle too- definatley worth the money.

AFS has a great "cool" factor. Kids and chics dig it. it helps some.

I've had preview braking engage twice and it works flawlessly. It will cut some serious stopping distance off of your stop in a real emergency.

ICC is one of my all time favorites. I use it almost daily. It's great for saving gas on highway rides and works very well. I've learned to use it with the cruise cancel button to avoid some of the harsh deceleration that you'd sometimes get if you approach a slow moving vehicle too quickly. It alone made the Tech package worth it for me.

4WAS has been around since the 1930s. That being the case, think about why it's not on most cars, even most sports cars. Now I don't have it myself but I did a bit of research before buying my car to help me decide what options to get. What it came down to from everything I read was, sure 4WAS is great, if you plan on power sliding through turns or testing your car through a slalom course. Otherwise it's more cost and more important to me, weight.

I have the tech package.

Havent run into preview braking yet, but i will say the brakes on the G are extraordinary in how quickly they can stop.

AFS is really cool. i think its worth the money. around where im at, there arent a whole lot of street lights on the back country roads. it really shows the most there.

4WAS is on my car, and i havent ever driven a G without it... so i wouldnt know what the difference is. If it does turn all 4 wheels like i beleive it does then i have yet to notice it. i cant really feel it either. the car handles extremely well. i dont fully understand how it works and no one has been able to explain it yet.

laser cruise is simply awesome. i love it. use it daily up and down the highway. although i have run into a few instances of where it has been a pain in the ***. but whatever. it works the way its supposed to. it is a very strange sensation to have your car applying brakes for you.

I have it and love it. No regrets in getting it. Here's my opinions.

Adaptive Front Lighting: Love this feature. Helps light up corners when turning especially on the sharp turns. Could I live without, yes, but I really like what it does. Helped me see a deer in a curve one evening and I was definitely thankful for having it then.

Intelligent Cruise: I like this feature as well... very convenient to just turn on cruise control, set your speed, and not really have to worry much about slowing down. It does a good job or recognizing objects (even motorcycles) in front of the car and can brake hard if necessary. Again, I could live without, but it is a nice to have on trips.

Pre-Crash Seat Belts: A few of us have seen this activate. I was goin down the road one day and the car in front of me slammed on their brakes. I could feel the seat belts tighten closely on my body and the brakes pre-pressured giving me significantly more braking power than I would normally expect. Could it save your life? I think so.

If I could do it all over again, I'd still get the Tech package. Infiniti did a good job with it.

so is 4was better for handling only or does it just hurt performance by its weight?

4was is not just all 4 wheels turn - it's active steer. I'll type more when I get off a slow 2.0 iPhone - shortly put - 4was and tech - worth every penny.

Some people like 4WAS ... Some dont...

It was said a bunch of times on here... If your car is a super track car... then you dont want it... but if your just a spirited driver... it benefits you alot...
