Why do you say that? I have the 5AT with the sport package and think it is great. I have always driven manual transmissions in the past but I'm getting older and spend a lot of time in rush hour traffic. The 5AT with paddle shifters is a good compromise IMHO. I still need the larger brakes, etc.

True =)
IMO, just something to make the 6MT different. Like the Brembos back on the G35 coupes...Nothing against people that wants 5AT and the sport package.
If not the sport package, I wish Infiniti made something that was only made for the 6MTs (I believe that LSD is only available on the 6MTs though)

Unless it has been since you said it then reversing the title would make it wrong...

IMO, Infiniti should have done something to make the G37S 6MT a disadvantage. For example, neck to neck, the 5AT in DS mode pulls slightly on a 6MT, regardless of who or how it is driven. This, would have been different in the G35 case, where (To my knowledge), the G35 6MT came with 300HP, whereas the 5AT came with 280HP.

You want to cripple the 6mt? I don't understand.

Why on earth would you want the 6MT crippled? It is a straight drive and the majority of performance drivers do use the manual transmission.

I personally think they should have made it 350 hp for the 6MT and had the S designated for only the 6MT.

Anyways, it would just be nice to have the a identifier for the straight drives like only allowing the S badge on the 6MT but still selling the sport package to 5AT for those who mainly drive in stop and go traffic.

However, I dont see the point of the sports package if it because you drive in stop and go traffic.

^Well you won't be driving in stop & go traffic all the time. Some people wanna do some spirited driving and take their car on through some curves. You gotta remember that every G37 model has the same power regardless of what package or tranny it has, but it changes up once you get the sport suspension, VLSD, and the bigger brakes.

lol better be careful cuz this is quickly turning into another Auto Vs Manual thread.

I have the sport option on my car, pretty sure i have the VLSD, definitly have the larger wheels, definitly have the upgraded brakes, and mine is 5AT.

I had a 350Z with 6MT and a Corvette Z06 6MT (obviously) and i loved driving both. but, at the end of a long work day when im stuck in traffic and just want to relax, i am so glad i got the 5AT. I can still drive the pants off my Z when I want to, but i just really enjoy the sport options combined with the 5AT.

interesting side story. when I bought my car, i was trying to understand from the dealer why I had the Sport package even though my car was a 5AT. cuz the infiniti website confused me. they made it seem like you could only get sport if you were 6MT. I asked the sales rep and he didnt know. :/ typical. thanks for clarifying it for me.

I know you dont drive in stop and go all the time. I just moved out of major cities myself to resolve that issue!

The brake argument does make a lot of sense though since I assume you cant just get the sports brakes.

As the OP, I had no intention of this turning into A vs M. I simply was trying to figure out what you could identify by the badges on the back.

We know the following:

If it says it is a G37S, it could be a 5AT or 6MT.
If it says G37 without the S, it is an auto.

The Infiniti website is very misleading because it showed the only option for the Sports model to come with in the S model.

It also doesnt list all the features correctly.

If I choose Build Your Car from the Infiniti Website and choose the G37S and add the premium and NAV pacakges, it does not show the reverse camera. However, the Infiniti Dealer shows it in Infiniti book that the Backup Camera comes with the G37S with the Premium and NAV package.

Sometimes I think they should just make everything a la carte and pick the features you want instead of having to get the premium package, nav pacakage, and tech package. However, they make money by selling people packages that have 5 things dont care about but one thing they want.
