just spoke to the dealership again, and the ppl I spoke to had no idea whether it uses DEI modules...
maybe ill try and call back on monday...
If it's not DEI, it's FAIL!
Go aftermarket! The only downfall is that it can not be integrated into the key fob or vice-versa. If you're paying $500+, get a Viper. The Viper remote is smaller than key fob.
Factory alarms = FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cost of the Viper will be cheaper than the 500+. It depends on the options that you choose for the alarm (remote start, etc.).
I've never paid over 450 on my Viper alarms (total cost with install and Llumar window tint) and included remote start, auto locks, auto trunk release (all on a different car). You add the tilt sensor as an accessory. Look for it on the accessories page on the website below.

In theory, you can get a mid-level Viper and just add the tilt sensor. Much less than $500 that the dealer offered. The Viper module that you get only has to have the ability to add-on the tilt sensor. Not a big deal as far as cost since you don't need all the bells and whistles.

1st, condolences to the TS's friend, I'm sorry for his loss.
2nd, the race of the thieves shouldn't matter. They happened to be African-American, there is no need for others in the thread to make references to African-Americans. Same if they happened to be Caucasian, Asian, or Hispanic. What I've learned living in 1 of the most diverse, multi-cultural cities in the world is that there are tons of bad people in every race & nationality.

Or if you work at a mechanic shop, all you need is to grab a set of universal keys. It's basically a socket with "teeth" that bites into the lugs...
Just google wheel lock removal kit.

just to ease my own mind, and apparently do nothing for actual results, I added a second set of wheel locks to my G... tomorrow, I gotta look into a viper
I agree with this guy. Move to where the thieves can't afford to live. Stop spending money, save up and buy a house, condo or rent an apartment with a garage. And buy a beagle. They'll bark at anything, a pit bull will sleep right through that noise.
