Damn.
Thats why I'm soo afraid of leaving my car in odd spots. My friends usually make fun of me and call me paranoid, but this is the exact reason why

some **** tried stuff on my wheels ... luckily the wheel locks worked, and he gave up after unscrewing a couple of the regular lugs ....

i took the money i WOULD have lost, and set up two cameras outside my house ... waiting for him to try again, so i can get some good entertainment this time ...

It's the middle of the night, speed is of the essence. You're a thief. Two identical cars. One with wheel locks, one without.

Which one would you pick?

The wheel locks were probably more of a deterrent. They simply picked the easier one that would be a quick job where they had less of a chance to get caught.

Thanks for all your help guys... so it whats the consensus? Will another set of wheel locks deter then enough not to take em? Or do I go the high end alarm route?

Any recommendations on which alarm to get? How much they cost etc?

That sucks man, i never had my wheels stolen but my previous car (Prelude) Got broken into 3 times in a 4 month period....i had expensive stereo equipment in there that they jacked every single time...i had a really good alarm but that didnt stop them-they were too damn quick. So i finally realized that you cannot have a nice car in this world and just leave it parked outside overnight, someone eventually WILL f**k with it. It dont matter what you do, if you leave the car accessible for someone to get at, then something will eventually happen to it so my suggestion to you and your friend is to do what i did...Move to a place that has a garage, that is the best solution, more wheel locks and super alarm will not slow down these sheisty azz thieves... It sucks moving but i had to do what i had to do to protect my ride ya feel meh? Garage FTW!

I would recommend you make your comp. insurance deduct 500 bucks or even 250. Don't go spend 1000 cash on something (alarm) that won't do anything for you but make noise. If they want your wheels, let them have your wheels. Also make sure you have rental car coverage. I had wheels stolen off my lexus IS a few years ago. I called my insurance agent, enterprise brought me a car, a tow truck came and picked up the IS and I drove the rental around while my new wheels came in.

I welcome someone to come take mine, @ 4700 I could get a sick set of aftermarket wheels anyway....

First make sure you have good comprehensive insurance, then get an alarm and some wheel locks. All you can do is deter. If they really want them, they will get them.

Yep, what he said! ^^

Viper alarms have served me well. Some, not all, do get pricey but it's an investment that has paid off for many years. Make sure you get the model with the motion/tilt sensor. If your car is elevated (to be put on bricks or towed), the senor will sound the alarm. Most come with starter kill switch which is a good thing. You'll have all the other options if you want them:

1. Remote start (I have this one, rocks on hot days)
2. Remote windows roll up/down
3. Remote sunroof open/close
3. auto trunk release
4. auto door locks
5. Remote that alerts you when your alarm is triggered

Definitely get after-market wheel locks.

Many options, it's up to you what you get.

Tell your insurance company to get moving on your claim!!!!
