haha don't ask me what I got on the way TO vegas... I was hitting speeds like you at times and just trying to get there as fast as possible without being nailed by the cops.

I think I ended up getting to vegas with a 17.3mpg average with a VERY heavy foot...

By the way, this car is ridiculously smooth and quiet at 135. As unsafe as that sounds, no one was around... it was plain as day outside and I wanted to see what the G could do. I was very impressed at how everything acted and sounded at those speeds.

Exactly. It's not ALL down hill... some climbing but yeah. That's why I played the MPG game back home...

Why you ask? It's just another method to test the capabilities of the car and its systems. Even Nascar racers need to know how to conserve fuel at times. Anyone can set the cruise and blast the music. He stated that on the way he was driving totally the opposite. Have some fun, then make up for it later.

I've made the LA to Vegas run over a hundred times over the years. On my 85 300ZX we always started the "gambling" on the way by guessing what the hotest temp would be based upon the reading shown on the car. It would be midnight or 1 AM going past the town of Baker, CA. Fuel mileage contests make you much more aware of the road, scenery and how colorful the upper deserts in CA and NV can be. You tend not to see that at 130 mph

Do I believe the figures quoted? Yes 100%

Yea i believe him too... why would someone lie about gas mileage... cause he is gaining nothing by showing he had good MPG saving skills.... he is just adding his 2 cents to the community... no excuse to call BS....

some of you guys would call BS if your mother told you something "kinda off" huh? lol

Well personally I have driven home late at night from South Beach several times to Boca, about a 40 mile trip. Put my car on cruise control at 70 and never been able to get more than 24-26 MPG in Florida. Yes I realize you coasted a lot but you still had to go up to come down and you probably would have got somewhere around 7-8 mpg during that period. I guess by coasting to 60+mpg that threw off the averages. Just my opinion but whatever. I get about 2 NMPG when I fly to Vegas lol!

On the way TO Vegas I did all the climbing...

As someone stated before, Vegas to the LA area is a lot of down hill

Next tank of gas I'm going to try and use some other techniques for city driving since that's what I mostly do.

See what average's I can do. I'm shooting for 22-25ish city We'll see...

I too believe it but,

Is it real world driving when you are coasting down the hills? No, it is not. I will find out what real world mileage is on my trip. I am not coming down on Nick for doing so, I just believe that our cars are meant to be driven. In our world, you have to pay to play. When I want to get mileage I drive the wifes Mini S. Which brings me back to my original statement. If you are hung up on mileage, buy a fuel sipper!

Props to Nick for pulling this off. Takes a lot of skill to squeeze out 32mpg outta of G37 Haha. I'm getting around 17.5 mpg city right now. Would love to see how you pull off 22-25.

WOW ... that is awesome. My wife drives a TSX and I would regularly get >36mpg if it was 100% highway miles with Shell 93 V-Power. I have yet to use Shell 93 in my G but with crappy Canadian Shell 91 V-Power, I average about 26-28mpg 100% highway miles from Toronto <-> Windsor (across from Detroit) ... about 200 miles one-way.

I'm sure with the Shell 93, I could probably get at least 1 mpg more highway miles. (I would easily get that with my old '02 TL Type-S)
