Vegas to Burbank, amazing MPG!
I believe it. You just have to make sure you reset the mpg reading. I assume he reset it before the trip. So...I wouldn't question the mpg since it really is all freeway miles. And coasting definitely help the mpg shoot up when the car is idle and basically getting free miles!

I do have the tech package for those wondering...
I really think people under estimate the mileage this car can make when you just go the extra mile to get it. Below I listed the drag coefficient rating from our car, to a full out super car, back to an Eco-box. I do this to show that Lambo and Porsche and yes, Bugatti have spend decades trying to make their cars as slick through the air as possible. As far as I can tell, the only real eco box that can beat out the G37 is the Prius, but come on? haha... I can live with that.
Anyway, just trying to clear things up that anyone can even do this... even you guys with auto's.

I get great highway miles... 27mpg is what I am averaging when I make a trip to Forged and back... 400 miles roughly... the last one included 4 dyno pulls and braking the brakes in and still got 27mpg... Im super happy with that... but the city miles SUCK... lol

Obviously this is to try and create a physiological effect on the driver, clicking it in their head more that "oh ****, i'm about to die out on the highway"
anyway, your math still adds up :P Assuming my gas gauge theory is correct, which I don't see why it wouldn't be... instead of the 1/2 way mark being 10 gal and assuming it's 8 gal:
32mpg*8gal @ 1/2 tank = 256miles = the exact mileage I got = winnar

I'm guessing he wasn't using it for that screen shot. Doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't have it. I ask this because I wonder if one's more efficient than the other...

If anyone watches Top Gear (From the UK on BBC2), Jeremy Clarkson takes an Audi A8 Diesel across Great Brittan in an 800 miles trek from London to Edinburgh on one tank of gas . . . this means he will be averaging 40 mpg in a car that can go from 0-60mph in 6 seconds and has a top speed of 150mph.
He does some very basic things when driving and he accomplishes this challenge. I took some of those basics and did what he did... I could of been really **** like turned the AC off, radio, heated seats, and whatever else used electricity but it was the desert and it was 118 outside... :P
If you haven't seen this episode, I suggest googleing it and watching it. I love the guy.

I just went from Lexington, KY to Atlanta, GA. Average speed was around 67mph and I was gettin 25.5mpg last I lo0ked.
Real hilly areas as well. You would lose mpg on the rise and gain it back on the downslope ... fun to watch, hah.

^^^ Hmmm... I think I'm with you on this one DGC... I drove to vegas and was at about 70 ish the whole time too and got about 22 mpg or so... Of course I occasionally hit 130+ mph but I don't thin that's what made me lose the potential 10 mpg... Maybe the pic was taken rite after he reset the trip meter thing... Mine does the same thing... It reads really high at first, then falls to what you are actually getting... If this is Legit tho then DAM.....
My city/hwy mix was around 16.0 and after a reset it went to 18ish and stayed for a week.....17ish and stayed for a week...then back to 16.2 now and coastin'....I dunno why it does that...just takes time I guess...

Yep it reads high after a reset, u can tell he reset right before the trip because his MPH average is so high at 69 MPH...Highway/City mix before his road trip tends to be right between 20-30-40 MPH..........
My city/hwy mix was around 16.0 and after a reset it went to 18ish and stayed for a week.....17ish and stayed for a week...then back to 16.2 now and coastin'....I dunno why it does that...just takes time I guess...

Screw what the car says even and just look at the raw math, there is simply no argument. Call it BS all you want... it's fine. If you can maybe produce some theory against the numbers and math I showed, instead of what you usually get... then I'll retract my post. Your numbers against mine mean nothing for MPG... car might be the same, but the driver and driver's driving style are far from the same. I know what numbers I got and there is very little room for any error... maybe 2mpg at most.

Maybe you should call out that guy as well... he gets 50mpg from his Accord non-hybrid using similar methods and at times, more extreme methods than I did. Granted he gets 25+mpg than what the car is rated for because he goes to the EXTREME, shutting his car completely off down a hill for example, but I only did a few things short of that guy and still managed to get noticeable results which I plan on using every day now.
I came from a 2006 Acura TSX... a car with a 2.4L 210hp 4-cyl known for it's awesome gas mileage. I was determined that the G, even with it's mighty performance, can keep up with the eco-box's of today. I'll try my best to prove that with methods that anyone can do. Not borderline crazy stuff that guy did in the CNN article... but simple very things. Pennies make dollars
