They gave the audio system performance too much credit. It's average at best. Bose should stick with home systems.

When you pay 45k for a car, the audio system should rock!

Completely agree, although their home audio stuff is grossly overpriced by about an entire decimal point. I can't wait to switch out the stock bose for something better. Personally, so far the Bose setup is the worst part of the car IMHO.

I thought this line summed things up well:

There are several alternatives in this price/performance class, each having its own small advantages and disadvantages, so deciding among, say, the BMW 135, Audi A5 and G37 is almost entirely a matter of personal taste.

BOSE stereo equipment is more hype than anything else. Those that know and care little about sound quality are usually the ones that are quick to praise BOSE.

When I took the G37 on a test drive, the BOSE was decent enough; but I just didn't feel like there was anything special or unique about it.

I think the audio is pretty good. I'd give it above average.

We also didn’t have the optional Nav Package with the new nine-gig “Music Box” hard drive. This option not only provides navigation but also a means to store most of your music library through the flash-drive slot. However, since the Bose audio in the premium package did have a convenient iPod interface, and we prefer over-the-counter nav systems at considerably lower prices, we didn’t miss this $2200 option.

I could be wrong here but i don't think you can transfer musik from the compact flash slot to the HD. ONLy burn from the CD

Bose - Better Sound Through Marketing

Don't get me wrong, there is worse equipment out there, they just charge a heady premium for their stuff, which is consumer grade at best, not "prosumer" or audiophile quality by any means.

Anyhow...back to the thread!

I think the system sounds pretty good in the G. Certainly no where near the level of Lexus' ML setups, but good enough for a $40k car IMO....

I've heard the B&O audio system in the Audi A5 is completely sick??? What's up with Inifiniti and their mediocre system in a top of the line car?
